After a couple of years of selling on Yahoo, and sending several emails in the beginning, with unrelated, canned replies, I had given up writing to them. However, last week, I cancelled a bid by accident, and wanted to find out if I could re-instate it, or at least get the address of the bidder to explain what had happened. I explained the problem very clearly. Well, I did eventually get a reply, telling me that maybe the reason my bid was removed was that someone outbid me. WHY doesn't someone READ the messages, I felt this was really important, but there is no help from Yahoo at all.

This is certainly not a phenomenon that is unique to Yahoo! Auctions. I can think of very few major on-line companies that haven't been forced to scale back their customer service because of budget restraints. Many of my customers have stated that they buy from me because they know that I'll handle everything ASAP.
If there's one advantage that small-time sellers like us have over the big players, it is that our customers will always be made to feel like they are getting personal attention. Remember to give as much of it as you can and you'll develop customers for life (I have a number of regular customers from a tiny town in northern Minnesota, all because of the good word of mouth of one person).

Amber: what happened to you is very typical.
I am a buyer/seller on Yahoo and the same thing happens to me too. I have found that by calling them, I get atleast a live voice and most of the time a very helpful person.
Here are some numbers. I'm not sure which is appropriate for your situation.
Heck.. call them all
408-349-5151 (billing) BUT if you listen to the prompts you can reach other departments too. Maybe tech support could help you out?

Thanks for the phone numbers. I get so frustrated when I get replies to questions I don't even ask. I finally got a second reply telling me that if I go to "My Yahoo", and check on the bidders name, I can find their email address. Wonderful! I just told them I accidentally cancelled the bid, there is no bidders name!!!!!
