Well, I have held off listing on Yahoo for about the last 3 months, than I decided to give them one more try despite the fact I am not pleased with some of their "programs" such as the "featured sellers" and the "premium sellers" or the "hot" auctions showing items with one bid! I get the feeling the deck is stacked against me before I even get started! Well, I launched a few auctions last night and everything was looking good. This morning I discovered none of my pictures loading! I checked some other seller's auctions and found some of them having the same problem. I emailed Yahoo and reported it as a "technical issue/bug" about 10:00CST. Here it is 1:28CST and I still have NO auctions loading pictures. When I toggle on show pictures only, I get pictures about 1/2 the time.
Am I alone in this or are any of you having a problem???? Should I just cancel this batch and try later? I don't like paying for something I'm not getting. If I do cancel the auctions will Yahoo automatically refund my money or do I have to request it. If so, to whom???? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Sulyn

When I went to the edit thing I got the message that I could add pictures, but I could not remove pictures while the auction was going. OK I have pictures showing up about 1/2 the time on picture view only, but when I click on the picture and the auction comes up, nothing in the actual auction. Can I delete what's there and just reload the same image again?
I originally launched from Seller's Manager, it's not working now. I tried to submit another auction and recieved an error message that said my HTML did not pass inspection! I am not having problem with the text on any of my auctions, just the images.
I am stumped and have wasted most of today trying to figure it out. I did find where I will not be reimbursed my listing or feature fees if I cancel the auctions. They are wortless to me as they arre and I have been on a mission and emailed every hour on the hour from two seperate addresses! I probably will end up suspended, but even that would be better than being ignored!

Well, I decided to try and delete my images and NOTHING happened. The page just hangs up with the little hour glass flickering until I run out of patience. I can't upload, I can't delete, I can't edit (I was going to add a sentence about the image problem and give the work around which is my link to a photo's only view I put in my auctions). That seems to be working OK. It wouldn't even let me add anything to my auction's discription! I have dumpted my cache, disconnect and reconnect with my ISP and everything else I can think of thinking it's got to be on my end. I give up. I am really disgusted with Yahoo right now and don't know why I bothered to come back! I will be out $60 if I just cancel the auctions, but I am about 10 minutes from doing just that! They are worthless to me as is and may even work against me. Who wants to waste time with a seller who can't even provide a picture!!!!! I will be the one blamed by the potential buyer, not Yahoo!!!!!

I saw a few "broken image" icons earlier in he day but I've listed a few auctions over the last couple hours quite normally. Images look OK in categories I've scanned, too. May be a problem with some regional servers being reloaded from archives or something?

Sulyn1950,
Do you suppose the seller's manager launch is the problem? I don't use seller's manager, don't know much about it.
If seller's manger is the problem and there are no bids you could go in and rewrite the auction to eliminate the error.
Wish I could be more helpful.

I don't use sellers manager, and I am losing pictures also. I don't know how other people are doing, but Yahoo auctions are DEAD. Until a couple of weeks ago, I got consistent bids, not great, but worth listing some. I am wondering if it is the picture thing that is causing it. Is there any chance Yahoo will refund listing prices?

I have steadily emailed every hour on the hour about the problem. I have not even received the canned "thank you for your email....." that you usually get when you use the FB form. I also sent emails directly to [email protected]. Yesterday I cancelled two auctions, but after finding the little "help" topic about featured fees, I decided to hold off on cancelling all of them. In that topic it said that if you cancel an auction, your feature fees will not be credited. I had already found where Yahoo Auctions said that insertion and reserve fees were non-refundable, so I decided to just go in and add a little diddy to the top of all my auctions.
I added:
NOTICE: There is apparently a technical issue and my photos are not loading. I have contacted Yahoo Auctions, but due to the holiday, the problem may not be resolved until Tuesday. I apologize for any inconvenience and if you use the email link in the auction to contact me, I will send you a picture. Thanks-Sulyn
No sooner had I added that to the last of my auctions, bam! I had pictures!!!! The first time since Saturday morning!
I have found a telephone number on my account page to call for billing questions, so I intend to call them Tuesday and ask person to person for a credit of the two auctions I had cancelled. Don't know if it will do any good, but I most definitely will ask!

Hi Friends:
Suyln1950 - I wish I had read this earlier. I might have been able to help you out. Sorry.
Several users are reporting the same thing on the YAhoo Expert message board.
This happened to me in July. I had 60+ auctions running. Pictures disappeared overnight. Why? Yahoo admitted that the image server went down over the weekend etc.
Well, I called the technical support people.
408-349-5151 (wait for the tech support option). They were very nice. Called me back 2-3 times that day and sent emails to update me on the situation. Although they were nice - I still had to fix it myself.
I had to manually go in and reload each and every picture for each and every auction. That took care of the picture problem. I should have called them back and asked for credits (atleast partial credit) because they did "freely" offer it during one of my conversations with them earlier but I was so tired and frustrated at that point I didn't.
And for those of you wondering.. NO! I'm not a premium seller... I'm just a regular seller like you
Right now - I think Yahoo fixed the problem because all pictures (my auctions)today are showing up.
PS - Don't ever cancel an auction you posted with yahoo whatever the problem. Well..unless you did something wrong.
If you leave it running and there is no picture then you have something to show yahoo and they'll be more willing to give you a credit. I fully believe they will give credits if asked and if there is justification.

Well, here it is 9/6 and I finally started receiving answers to the emails I blitzed Yahoo with about no photos over the weekend. The pictures magically reappeared on 9/2, but I had already cancelled 2 auctions because they seemed to hang the whole category up if trying to use the "picuture only" feature! I probably sent around 15 emails and have received 4 responses 2 with the ususal non-related answers and 2 that actually addressed my inquiries!!! One of them said that there had been a "technically issue" and apologized for any inconvenience and the problem should have been resolved. The other one told me to reply to the email sent me with the auctions I had cancelled due to the problem I had experienced and they would submit them for credit!!!
Don't know if I'll be given credit, but I will keep trying.

auctionsrfun,
Thanks for that "experts" link. I've bookmarked the second one and plan to do some reading through it. On one hand the experts are self-described as such so the ratings are the only way to assess their effectiveness, but hell, that's more than one has on this message board, anyway. I didn't notice any of "them" offhand that would admit to an official connection to Yahoo, so again like here, it's sort of "caveat emptor" on how accurate any tips are.
On the other hand, there doesn't look to be any censorship there by Yahoo, either, since I quickly ran across a reply that said, approximately, "You've been scammed, Yahoo has little protection against it, I'd say you should stop bidding on Yahoo." WTF??? What happened to advising "Use a credit card in the future, limit buying to sellers with good feedback."????
Anyway, that function does look like a reasonable start to a good way for Yahoo auctioneers to interact in addition to scattering out to independent boards like this one. What I really would like to see is some designated ombudsman like PPDamon who up-front is on the inside with Yahoo and can address important issues and questions on various of these forums. Otherwise, the "experts forum" there still has the feel of blind "experts" describing an elephant, ya know?
