Just curious on what ya'll think.

If you see that an item you are selling is on someone's "watch list" does it usually get a bid?

I'm finding that with my listings, if it's on someone's watch list, then I can almost guarantee that I will get a winning bidder.

Most of my auctions don't get a bid until the last few hours on Yahoo. On Ebay it seems I get bids immediately and then they don't jump up any higher until the last day.

Just curious if the rest of you are finding this true for you to?

Usually it means a competing seller is watching your item to see how you do with an item they are considering auctioning. Sometimes it is a buyer trying to line up the best price though. Don't read too much into those Watched Items stats.

ya know, I never even thought about a competing seller. That is a possibility. Thanks for making me use my brain! [ edited by SunnyStudios on Nov 22, 2001 08:05 AM ]

NO when your Item is on someone watch list it doesn't mean it will get bids.

In fact not only does it mean this item wont nessarily get bid, BUt if the item closes with out bid as long as you don't change the title in anyway this item willbe on there watch list no matter how many relists it gets.

This is the way yahoo watch list has worked from the start the watch list count is never reset to 0 untill you sell or change the listing..

Same with Bidvilles Watch List function. I never look at the Watched Items counts. Page hits are worth viewing but not Watched Items.
