Since 11/14, I have had 26 auctions close, with an average sale of about $10. This is better than I expected, I am not going to abandon Ebay, but it is going pretty well. How is everyone else doing? I wish I could take advantage of the free listing day, but I am heading out of town for a 2 week trip soon, so I am putting my auctions on hiatus until after the 1st of the year.

I had strong October sales, but Yahoo kinda dried up for me in November, only 3 sales, Carnaby kicked in though and I had 35 sales over there last month...so, I suppose it's Yahoos turn again.

My first set of auctions is about to close and my sell-through is hovering around 25% so I'm pretty happy. Only concern is I haven't sold any items on re-list yet, and they are certainly priced right to move. But all in all, so far so good.

I listed one item yesterday and sold it the same day. This same item sat on eBay with no action. On ebay there is so much saturation maybe thats why it did not sell. I think yahoo is going to do ok, but it will take some time. 2002 should be better.

It depends on how much stuff is in your category. Since the Adult section is gone..........I don't sell anythng anymore
But I play Magic The Gathering as my hobby and my extra cards I sell online. At Ebay the action is slow since there are soooo many cards from so many sellers
On Yahoo I get more items with bids than the ones that close with no bids. I also get better prices than Ebay since the interest is there but not enough sellers to fill the demand.
I also get crazy return business from my yahoo card bidders. I also like the people that bid on my cards better than my Ebay bidders.

It's really odd, but since the new listing fees started, my business has dropped. I listed some of my best items for Christmas sales, but no bids. May be because there's so much to choose from now-but these are items that would have sold quickly on Ebay.

I can get them to bid (nowhere as much as on eBay), but I am having the dickens of a time getting them to actually pay on Yahoo. Guess no one cares if they get tossed from Yahoo.

We sell maybe 4 to 8 items a month on Yahoo, and with eBay we sell 50 - 70. We even pretty much have the whole market on Yahoo and still nothing. I wish Yahoo was better because I would love to leave eBay, but how can you compare the two..... not even close. We just got suspended from ebay for 30 days and we will loose approx. 15 - $20,000. Man I wish there was something else out there.

Flat lined....don't think they can be resuscitated so I will let them slip quitely away. The last of my auctions close in a couple of days. I plan on moving to a free site for awhile. They can set there idle as long as the free site is free. Can't do any worse.
I am afraid it's a sign of the times and not just Yahoo!

Hi guys, i want to thank you all for your honesty.you made me feel like it's not just me.LOL
I keep posting at chat there, they need a seller search button on home page without it all our work is for nothing. also my customers are mad about how hard it is to register so it's a big problem.
for a long time collectibles have been going downhill on auctions for us.we were doing good on one site then they closed down.
think i will keep some at yahoo, and the oldie stuff at a site i am trying now it's free an antiquey kind of site oldandsold so will see if i sell anything.(hope i am not being rude mentioning this but someone asked)free inc free pics & you can link to your website which is great..I have tried just about every other site & wasted a lot of time this past year with poor results.maybe it's time for niche sites i see many people mentioning this.Anyone else have ideas?
Also at yahoo i have also had a lot of winners not even contact too, more than in the past 2 years total in the last month.I usually have very few problems with that..
happy holidays & hope we all do better the last half of December

i listed on Yahoo and did not do well. But i followed certain auctions on Ebay and they did worse. And they cost more. Am doing ok on Bargain and Haggle. Nothing spectacular, but better than the other two.

thanks i had forgotten them, made a few little sales there. now since they raised fees is it like 1.25 fvf for a little 8.99 sale? i think that is why i stopped there..please correct me if i am wrong..of course if a person is clearing out stuff that could equal listing & fvf at another site i guess good luck in your haggleing LOL

Don't forget that filing for credit on Bargain and Haggle is a pain and you risk not getting your money. They are really good about taking your money, but pretty lousy when comes to refunding money for deadbeats. Four out of fourteen transactions were deadbeats.

I Think Every Auction site is Slow right now - There are some Very good tips on the Y message board for new sellers - Get in there and dig while nothings happening.
LovePotions - you might want to look into Fetishauctioneer.com Theres a big group of ebayers who sell risque items -banded together and formed a group that lists on this free site - go peek I think its called kinkauction they have a link at the site.
Luck to ya !

Just to update-Christmas Eve, my sales went back to normal, which is 40-50 sales per week. I guess when everyone finished Christmas shopping, they went back to buying for themselves. My area is collectibles, which is usually bought by the collector, not as gifts.
So maybe things were just in a slump while everyone went to JC Penny's sweater sales before Christmas, and 2002 will be better. We can only hope!

Personally, I am glad to be back at Yahoo. I came back about three months ago and have been very happy. My sell through rate is at an all time high there and now that the listing fees are resonable, I will keep items there. As far as saying that all sites are slow, I must disagree on that one. I have had record selling months both at Yahoo and Ebay. I found that only the free sites (or third tier), the sell through rate to be non-existent.
Bidville & Carnaby sales before 9-11: Zero
Bidville & Carnaby sales after 9-11: Zero

I agree with you BP. The free sites are a total waste of time and effort.

What in the heck are you selling on Carnaby to get sales? I've posted several items there and got nothing--not even page views!! Zip, zero, nadda!!

if you have a shop,i mean a nice shop on a reputable site, you can leave the items there.
if these are nice items and reasonably priced, they will be sold,it may take longer than ebay 10 days, but you get the price you deserve.
