Now that fees are a reality with pay Direct, the bozos have put the 'Who pays the fees' button way down at the bottom of the screen under advanced payment options where nobody can see it and the default it RECEIVER pays, not SENDER pays.

Thus I have had to cancel 5 payments today and 4 of them were from the same Bozo who still hasn't got it right.

I clearly stated in my ads and notices that Pay Direct is a convenience for them, not me, and they would have to pay the fees if they want to use it.

Now I'm having to send out a tutorial to all buyers on how to send a payment with Pay Direct.

Is Yahoo that incompetent, or are they trying to force the sellers to pay?

I thought it was great they gave us the option, just like they give us the option of declining each and every payment (unlike the thieves running paypal). But is it a genuine option or are they too trying to make things difficult for the sellers?

I forgot to check, can you send a paydirect invoice with the buyer paying the fee?

Well, when I first saw the "you can choose who pays fee" statement, I immediately thought that it was just a ploy to appease the sellers and was going to be a nightmare.

Most of my PD payments come as a result of the buyer winning the auction and just going in and making a PD payment without even waiting for my EOA! Since it is "defaulted" to RECEIVER paying the fees, how many buyers will even think about the fees?

How many will "volunteer" to pay them, since they don't have to pay them anywhere else?

How many buyers will actually argue with you that it's "illegal" to charge them fees and that's why PP and BP charge the seller?

If they initiate the payment, and don't change the default then the seller has to reject the payment if he doesn't want to pay the fee. How many buyers will become upset with having their first payment rejected and then having to annie-up the fee?

All I see is trouble.

Due to the way it's set up, I think Yahoo PD ultimately expected the seller to pay the fee, they were just wanting to "look" like they were doing something really nice and different for sellers.

Money orders work just fine for me.

Well said, Sulyn1950:

Today's tally for me: 3 Yahoo pay Direct payments, all refused by me with a tutorial reply on how to pay with THEM paying the fees.

That makes 6 different payments refused so far. Oh, and the other tally: # of Yahoo Pay Direct payments received from buyers who did pay the fees: ZERO

I too had a difficult time with Pay Direct. Put the logo on my website and did a practice test and from what I could see the customer would be totally confused if they tried to pay through my web site.
I just faxed a letter to Yahoo to close my account. Problem is, Yahoo doesn't have a phone number (1-800) or customer service button on the web site.

For them to be a big player on the internet they have lousy customer service.

1. If a Seller agrees to accept PD, they simply add in the payment fee to the handling costs and accept the payment without further adoo. Just say it in the Item Listing! Tempest subdued.

2. Is anyone upset that PD now requires the Buyer to give the SSN? Is this legal, to require it when it's not even necessary otherwise?

I have found that buyers generally do not like "handling fees". I have seen complaints on sellers FB that had to do with "excessive shipping fees"....often that is earned for no other reason than there was a "handling fee" in addition to the postage.

That has always puzzled me, but I guess you have enough seller's willing to "abosorb" the actually cost involved with shipping above and beyond postage/insurance that buyers have come to think that seller's who charge it to the buyers are out of line.

I also, don't like charging someone who doesn't use a payment service by adding it to a fixed handling fee, just to cover those who might use a payment service. Doesn't seem fair.

Adding it to the "start" price often puts you out of the running for no other reason than you appear to be too "expensive". I have noticed that auctions I start at the least I can take and covering listing/feature/payment service fees, often don't even get viewed....That $49.00 start price showing on the listing page keeps them moving on down looking for a $25.00 start price or better yet $1.00 NR!!!!

Unfortunately, in my category, if you start at $1.00 NR, you'll close around $25.00 if your lucky!!!!

With "thrifty" buyers like that, it's hard to add a "handling fee".....

I've declined several hundred $ in payments and pissed off a lot of buyers who went elsewhere since pay Direct defaulted the fees to the seller.

Just as i was beginning to think all buyers were morons, one patient soul who kept trying to follow my directions enlightened me with this tidbit:

If the buyer initiates the Pay Direct payment from the auction page where he won the item, then there is NO choice given and the seller is charged. Only if the buyer goest to Pay Direct home page and initiates a payment from scratch does the choice to accept fees appear at the bottom of the page in ADVANCED options and past the first SEND button which means most people never see it.

Someone who buys things on Yahoo Auctions please confirm this. In the meantime, I'm not offering Pay Direct on any new Auctions. This seems to be another Yahoo bungle or perhaps it was disinjenuous to announce the fees would be selectable between seller and buyer.

Instead offer C2it and get your $5 referral while your buyer gets $10 for 1st use. And C2it is now free except for international payments.

I have thought about using C2it but found that they require a social security number for starters. Secondly, reading all the negative posts on it, I decided to pass. I wish there was a free e-payment service that was secure and did not require a social security number. The only organizations that have my ss# is my bank and the insurance company

Just had to add my 2 cents

Western Union just started a service that is quite reasonable, only problem is that they want to deduct from your checking account for the payment vs a credit card. I wrote them my feelings, which is against the checking account payment.

C2it is a bank: Citibank. I find it hard to believe there is only 2 places where your SS# is on file. I'd bet it's more like 2000 places.

Sometimes you just gotta go with the flo....

Online banking is a natural. Join in or get left in the dust. The only real problem with C2it is the site is sooooo slowwww...even with a fast connection, their computer takes forever for anything you attempt to do.

The bounses are real. You get $5 for referral and the new buyer gets $10. Money for nothin' and the transfers are free....

I'm Glad I stopped in here or I would not have known about this latest yahoo scam
the corporate management needs to have an outside audit of the auction dept and cut loose the imebciles there who came up with this scam, I will be dropping yahoo paydirect
and while we are at it i had a bidder there use paydirect pay before thanksgiving he wiated 3 days then cancelled the payment what he was hoping was that I would have already shipped the merchandise which would have normally happened except for the holiday when I informed yahoo of the scam tyhey did exactly nothing other than let this parasite post negative feedback on me. they are also continuiing to allow this person to bid and to sell yahoo is to self important to be responsible enough to had a functioning complaint dept drop them and go to epier.com at least they know enough to have a telephone

I signed up for PD just before they started the SSN requirement. They held my money hostage until I gave them my SSN. They got my SSN but they no longer get my buisness. That's definitely not a company I want to do buisness with.
