Try this one on for size. I got an email from Yahoo a couple of weeks ago that I had to change my bank account from a savings account to a checking account for PayDirect which I have had in place for two years. I have always used the savings account with no problems. But to cooperate with Yahoo I changed my account and entered the new account number at the PayDirect options page. A week later I transferred money from PayDirect to this new account. THAT SAME DAY I get an email from Yahoo that I have to verify this account by the deposits they made. But the link to verify does not work. I have been unable to verify my account for a week now and I have repeatedly emailed Yahoo that the link does not work but they do not respond. My PayDirect account shows a 0 balance since the money was transferred, but to where? My account in unverified. Will they replace the money into PayDirect after 30 days, or will they pocket it? After this I am out of here for good.

I started getting more and more PayDirect payments and decided to transfer some of that money to my checking account that I had listed there. The account numbers on the listed account didn't match my current account so I decided to setup a new checking account at Yahoo with account numbers that I knew were correct. I followed the online instructions and got a "pending" message in the status box of the new account. A few days later, an email from Yahoo said a pair of small deposits were made to my checking account and I had to verify the amounts of each to activate the checking account. When I did that online the statues instantly changed to "verified" and I was 29 cents richer.
I don't know if that helps but that how I set up a new checking acount at Yahoo.

The problem is yahoo not the bank that runs paydirect (HSBC). When I had my paydirect chargeback my account was instantly closed with a link to ask yahoo why. Never a response to several emails. I finally received an email from HSBC after about two weeks. Customer service at HSBC is topnotch, the number is 888-353-4722 9am - 9pm ET Monday - Friday. Call them and they'll straighten it out.

Like you, I was suppose to verify my account on line only the link didn't work. There was no way to verify it. I guess they got tired of my emails because today I checked my bank account on line and see that the transfer was made. It sure took a load off my mind. And thanks for the toll free number, I may need it sometime in the future.

I had to add a bank account when the change over took place and I had the 2 deposites made and tried to enter them using the link and it didn't work.

I did some reading and found that PayDirect can PUT MONEY INTO the registered bank WITHOUT it being verified, BUT I can't make payments from that bank account (e-checks I guess) until it is verified.

I have decided NOT to verify. This way, I can still receive my money and reduce the risk of money being removed.

Now, my grip is that the last time I logged in to accept a payment I had to enter my social security number to get to my transaction log and accept the payment!!! I was not a happy camper about that because I do not plan on using my bank account to make any payments to anyone and I had planned on NOT every registering my SS online with anyone because that's just too much info for a hacker to get on me. My bank account #, my credit card # and NOW my social security #. Talk about handing them my idenity of a silver platter! I don't know what Yahoo pays it's staff, but I sure hate that much info on me being available to anyone with the smarts and the inclination to take it.

Now, I'm going to be sooooo paranoid.
