As you have heard by now, Yahoo auctions is shutting down in Europe. Here is a quote from one of the Yafool people "This is an outstanding move for Yahoo Europe, both strategically and financially,"
This is the kind of screwed up logic that got Yahoo auctions in trouble in the first place. They are happy about closing down a part of their business and moving out of a huge market like Europe? They are happy because they failed?
If they are so happy about closing this part of the auctions down, why don't they just go for super happy and close down everything.
Will these idiots ever learn?

They never show us the books but it has to be a major money drain on Yahoo in general. Yahoo has finally gathered the courage to end the money losing European auction operations. Next to close should be the other foreign Yahoo auction operations except of course Yahoo Japan.

Actually in the end yahoo will be the ones to laugh. If the us site closes ebay can do anything they want because there is no other site they can run to. Remember the ebay france boycott? The sellers went to yahoo but now ebay has control lol. Yahoo gave sellers a free ride long enough, and someday sellers could be sorry. I hope ebay makes checkout mandatory first, and fee increases second. Things could get good.

Don't believe that monopoly b.s.
If a plastic company has a monopoly, they still have to compete against a steel company, or the glass company, or the aluminum company.
People may not have a good backup auctions site but they can get their own website, B&M store, or sell at a flea market. That's the direction I'm taking. I don't want to rely heavily on ebay so I'm branching out, but since I was axed by Yahoo, I also realized I shouldn't branch out to auction sites.

Seems diversification is so important, when the anthrax hit so many people didn't seem to remember there are flea markets, have a yard sale etc.
A website,an online catalog,a free newsletter, there are lots of things to promote sales. i do some ebay, not bothering with yahoo much lately a lot of people are moving to sellyouritem free listing the place is really growing. we need to adjust to the times and it seems the changes are coming pretty fast right now.
good luck everyone
