One of my friends asked me to post such a topic on related message boards.
The ideea is to open an online business that will offer their customers consulting and assistance in every auction they bid, to inspect the seller/buyer online and give a verdict about it. Also, there will be assistance in managing a e-commerce site, scanning them for known and not known bugs in scripts that 90% of the merchants are using, and if needed securing their site.
This is the ideea in large .. all I need is some advice, if this will work in your opinion and if you, or your friends would apply for such assistance. Thanks

Most new auction users learn the ropes either by reading all of the online auction site tutorials or trial & error or both. The new eBay daily TV show coming in three months should educate a lot of potential users that are now afraid to take the plunge.
The other part of your post about technical computer support is already out there in the form of consoltations and assistance programs with phone asistance or local people that do what you described.
My 17 year old son is a wizard at computers and I'm tempted to go in business with him part time hooking up household computers in a network and then to their DSL or cable provider. It's quite tricky getting the network to work and most people have to call in an expensive tech to do the work. We could just cut the price way down and save people money and make some extra cash.

A problem could come up if the company passes verdict on a seller and then the company is wrong. You would be opening your self up to all kinds of Law suits.

Regarding the sues that can come in time if our advices are wrong can be avoided by TOS specifications. This is not a problem. Also, as I stated in my reply on this topic on ebay's board there are so many sites unsecure that it scares me. I personaly founded in less than 30 minutes 4 huge webhosting services that are unsecure and I could exploit some of their cgi scripts to get access on their servers. I notified them, but of course no answer recieved. There were over 5000 sites including online shops that exposed data to any hacker ... credit cards, account information and so on ..
Probably the networking consultants that are asking for thousands of dollars are not doing great job .. or the admins are faulty?

I do not believe that a libel or slander suit can be simply avoided with a TOS. I think when you look at this, the risk for you outweighs the amount of money you would make. You would end up spending more money on legal fees, then in profit.
