I am selling more on Yahoo this week than usual. I put on quite a few auctions this week and have sold a lot with buy now. The items I am running are a little more expensive than I normaly put on Yahoo. Most in the $25.00 to $50.00 range seem to be what is selling. I have sold 9 items in 2 days just with the buy now. Am I just lucky or are others doing better on Yahoo?

I haven't been listing on yahoo too long but I've noticed that I'm getting a few more hits this week than the previous weeks.

Sales are better at Yahoo for me as well. Actually even better than Ebay. Not sure why, but I am not complaining. At least about Yahoo.

I broke down and listed everything that wasn't deleted and I'm surprised to see a very large amount of sales and side deals. There still are a lot of bidders on Yahoo.

Sellers can make alot of money selling on yahoo if they research what is hot. Playstation 2 games are doing very well, as is collectable sports cards. If you want to sell nickel and dime stuff then yahoo isnt a good choice.

It is so great to hear that a venue is doing so well. Are you folks getting a lot of pageviews as well as bids? Just wondering if there are a lot of shoppers AND lookers.

Yahoo has some of the best features too.

That's great news.

My sales are picking up, as well. Even had some last minute bidders. I guess it pays to spend a couple bucks here and there just to keep your presence out there. Although I market fairly low priced items, even 1 sale can pay for 100 of my listings, so I got to keep plugging away at it.

That's true. And there is much more traffic on Yahoo then on most of the small online auctions.

If every seller who was fed up with ebay would list 10 quality items the site would really take off, but many will not do this. 10 items at $9.95 or less would be fifty cents.

blairwitch that is a good idea. I have 10 items right here that I had planned for eBay. I am going to put them on Yahoo. I ran 167 items on Yahoo last month and 76 sold. My sell rate was a little better on eBay but my fees are much lower.

I start my items on Yahoo at a resonable price where I can make money and then put a buy price a little over average eBay price. I have been selling about 75% of my items with the buy price.

toolhound,
I have found that to be true for me as well. Again, not saying that I can retire with Yahoo, but it sure is nice to be able to list quality items for next to nothing and actually get some quality sales.

I was just thinking about the price differences between eBay and Yahoo regarding listing fees. On an auction item with a starting bid up to $9.99 the listing fee at eBay is 30 cents for 7 days.

For 30 cents at Yahoo a seller can list that same auction item for 60 days, 6 listings of 10 days each. The Yahoo sellers can also set a BIN at no extra charge and also receive half of the listing fee back if the auction item sells within 30 days of the start. Also the Yahoo sellers can set the start time of the auction, something the seller can not do at eBay without a third party service. Also the FVF is much less when the item sells.

That's a lot of good reasons to at least try Yahoo for the more common auction items that do not do well at eBay.

Yahoo gives sellers MUCH more than ebay does. The thing I really like is on yahoo you can set the feedback requirements for bidders. This eliminates negative feedback bidders from bidding. Sellers are only hurting themselves by not building up another site for backup. They complain about ebay, but wont do anything to help themselves.
