Hi,
Mostly I just lurk and learn, but now I have a real problem, and don't know where to turn. I posted a reserve auction, and STUPID ME, I forgot to put the reserve price on it. It is a vending machine. I was reviewing my auctions a day later, and saw my vending machine has a bid on it.
It was then I realized I FORGOT TO PUT A RESERVE PRICE. I have a really low starting bid, and a buy price, but I think this buyer might expect me to sell him my vending machine for the starting bid (if he is the only bidder).
I saw that I can't cancel once a bid is placed. If I end the auction early, that means he gets my machine for $15.00. (Yeah, right).
I emailed Yahoo, but so far, no response. Should I go in and cancel the bid?
(That will teach me to pay more attention when I post my auctions.)
I am sure of one thing--he is not going to get my machine for $15.00--even if it means I get negative feedback.
Has anyone come across a problem like this before? Can anyone give me some advice?
Bonnie (aranglen)

I would email the bidder and explain the situation, then tell him you are sorry but have to cancel the bid. Then stop the auction and relist it with the reserve price. Your bidder may even bid again. I don't think he can leave feedback if he doesn't win since you have canceled his bid.

Hi Bonnie,
I agree with homestead on this. Cancel the bid, then the auction. I am guessing you listed it on free listing day so if you relist, you will have to pay the listing fee. But the good part is on Yahoo, it isn't that much. I guess personally, I would relist but at a realistic value without reserve. I don't believe in reserves. No matter if you do or don't however, cancel the bid and cancel the auction.

Thanks, guys, for your suggestions.
I have canceled the bid, and the auction, and relisted.

Yahoooo is like the stuff we had floating down our river when the sewage system busted. If it smells like xxxx, looks like xxxx, and runs like xxxx, then it must be xxxx.

Obviously someone has stolen RB's password. That's the explanation to that negative Yahoo comment.

RB,
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I do not happen to agree with you, but then, I don't have to.
I like Yahoo, and I am not apologizing for it. There is something good AND bad about every auction site I have ever been on, that is just the way it is.
Yahoo has always been quick to respond to my questions/problems I have had, and I am satisfied with them.
Enough said.

let me paraphrase a post I made in another forum that describes how Yahooooo uses racial profiling to determine who and who can't play on their idiot venue:

"... they don't allow Canadians to use their garbage venue.

But, they will allow us to register and give them our CC numbers etc. When we try to list something, we are allowed to go through the entire process (compose the listing, add pics, set prices and terms etc.), yet nothing ever shows up in the listings.

When we ask them why, they don't respond.

It wasn't until someone here at AW advised me that all Canadians were banned from their venue that I knew what was going on.

OTOH, now that I am "registered" with them at least I know why the amount of SPAM in my mailbox has increased dramatically.

Yahoooo blows huge, slimy, green chunks and is a total waste of web space.

I..AM CANADIAN
and
Yahoooooooo isn't"

You forget Einstein that there is already a Yahoo-Canada for Canadians. If they do like their own country site then that is their problem.

RB states it correctly. He is Canadian. Nothing good is in, from or has anything to do with Canadians.

I like Monte Hall & Michael J. Fox though.

I think it was fair for yahoo to give canadians their own site. I am sure it cost alot of money. They have done more for sellers than ebay would ever think of, and all people do is complain. Ask ebay to remove a neg left by a deadbeat and see what they tell you.
