They never put any effort or advertising into it......
Except for us...... who ever heard of Yahoo used goods???
Instead of pushing email users each with their 16 account for spamming purposes to try to purchase the new/improved service at $29.95 a year they should go for the easy quick cash of auction listings and the 15% cut they snagged off the used goods sales. http://www.lovepotions.com

It was only a seller's 10% fee from the Used Goods unit. ( ebay's Half charges 15% and Amazon charges 99 cents plus 15% ).
Yahoo is shutting down most of the 150 million free Yahoo email accounts in a style similar to what Hotmail has done for a long time ( any account that is not used for 30 days by the owner is frozen and Yahoo added a profitable twist making it that the owner can not access that account unless they pay $19.95 to re-open it )
Yahoo offers email accounts with bigger storage for an extra fee these days. The formerly free Yahoo Personals are now something like $19.95/month for users that place and maintain a personal ad. The formerly free Yahoo Classifieds now charge a hefty fee as well. Yahoo now has 'profit fever' and most freebies are going away.
The internet 'freeway' is rapidily become a toll road.

Yahoo has also added more fee based services to the auction portal, and is in the process of redesigning. Hopefully they will continue to tweak the auction portal.
