Has anyone tried the new service PayPlace.com yet?
They offered a 10.00 bonus for signing up and then a 5.00 bonus for all your referrals, but it only lasted for about a week and now they don't even offer anything. I think PayPal is better then PayPlace. I would like to hear about other peoples experiences with PayPlace.

I joined PayPal in February, then joined PayPlace when I heard about it on April 26th. Since their services are FREE to me, unlike Billpoint or my own merchant credit card account would be, I can offer my customers credit card payments and still keep my expenses down. PayPlace takes American Express in addition to Visa and Mastercard (credit and debit), allowing me to accept payments made with that card, too.
I got PayPlace's $10 sign-up bonus immediately (which I withdrew into my bank account through my Visa debit card), and have gotten credit for payments people made to me immediately after they paid, but I have several gripes with them.
1) I didn't receive the $5 referral bonuses until several days after I wrote PayPlace and complained (threatening to remove their logo from my listings). I had previously written them about a problem with the member's "referral link" to place in my emails. They never answered either of my letters.
2) They don't send me an email when someone pays me, as PayPal does, so I don't know I've been paid unless the BUYER emails me or I log on and check my account.
3) They changed the sign-up bonus and referral bonus policy WITHOUT WARNING. I found out the sign-up $10 and referral $5 ended May 17th AFTER the fact. I think the $5 referral bonus is still in effect, but ONLY if someone uses the PayPlace logo I placed in my auction listing to go to their website to join.
4) Without any sign-up bonus, I don't think they'll attract new members (especially since PayPal is still offering $5 to join). And with the hassle it's been to get credited for PayPlace's referral bonuses, I'm contemplating removing their logo from my auctions. They don't have their act together, or they're trying not to pay out for referrals. PayPal has had a few bumpy days (like last week), but the referral bonuses poured into my account with them--possibly because they were the "first". I've only had 3 buyers pay me through PayPlace in the last 3-1/2 weeks--and that was with the lure of a $10 sign-up bonus!!

Thanks antqe and dman3 for your responses. I think I prefer PayPal to PayPlace. I haven't received a payment from PayPlace still after 5 days, but the bidder said her card was charged already. I think she sent it to the wrong email address but unlike Paypal you don't enter the sellers last name to verify that you have the right address. I already took Payplaces logo off my auctions and only have PayPal up.

No I have not signed up yet with Payplace. Any different than Paypal. Why do I need to sign-up for more services when one such as Paypal works just fine?.

PayPlace SAYS they still give the $5 referral bonus if someone signs up using your logo link, but I had a customer sign up a few days ago using my logo link, and they CLAIM she didn't use the link, so they refused to give me the referral.
The only reason I signed up with PayPlace was because they take American Express (which PayPal/X.com doesn't) and I wanted to be able to offer it in addition to Visa and Mastercard.
I've had it with PayPlace, and I'm in the process of removing their logos from my auction listings. If they're cheating everyone else out of referral bonuses, too, they won't be around long.
Incidentally, I have accounts at both PayPal and X.com, and I find it very convenient to just transfer the money from PayPal into my checking account at X.com (which is paying me 5% interest).

I've used Payplace and like it about the same as Paypal...My money gets transferred just as easy and quick as Paypal.
I've never had any problems with referrals.
The only thing is that you can't change your bank account, like you can on Paypal...so if you goof, you're tough out of luck.
I had taken Payplace off my auctions when they decided not to offer the $10 signup bonus, but I might start using it again, since we can now get $5 for referrals.
I think its worth a try adding it to your auctions...get a little extra cash!
