Anyone having this problem: A winner is announced by Yahoo and there is no reserve when you KNOW you put one on. I had a RARE item end tonight and bidder thinks he got it for 8.00 - because Yahoo didn't acknowledge the reserve -- and it disappers when the auction ends, thereby making it impossible to prove there WAS a reserve.

This is the THIRD auction in about 6 weeks and it is aggravating to say the least. Makes me feel like the winner thinks I'm lieing about the reserve. There HAS to be a bug in the software since it happened before.

WHERE is the correct support address for Yahoo on these matters? Seems like seller, bidder and Yahoo have been cleverly sequestered on the auction services. Help-- is broken into so many categories -- can't find one main support email. Thanks a bunch for any replies on this.

Click BUGS from the drop down menu (#4). You should recieve a computer generated response within 5 days that has no relation to what you asked. You click REPLY to that email and say "this answer does not apply, please re-read and respond accordingly".

It may sound as if I'm joking, but I'm perfectly serious. Unfortunately you will find it always takes this procedure (and patience) for a correct response.

Be sure to give the exact auct ID #'s where your Reserves disappeared.

UNLIKE eBay, I NEVER use reserves on Yahoo, found it killed my sales - BUT if I were having your problem I'd copy & e-mail the listing page (the one you fill out) each time I did a reserve auction, I'd send the page to Yahoo and keep a copy, and I think then you would have proof the next time this happens...sending a link, etc., wouldn't work as the page could still change, but a copy of the page from the pull down under mail where it says: Send Page, might be the answer.

Thanks for the replies (I think! LOL) Hmmm now I would have to keep copies of ALL reserve auctions-- what a waste of bandwidth, just to preserve "exhibit A"
I ususally post my reserves right on the description-- looks like I'll have to do it on all items since keeping record of 100 auction reserves is unacceptable.
Yahoo is getting buggier by the day. I sell less there than ebay but I do appreciate it being a free service - and the fact we don't need an image host... but why would they want the reputation - it's free BUT....
If they eventually do charge for listings-- I would be hard pressed to count on their software expertise. Ebay was enough of an experience on that note. Probably lost more money there than I made due to 3 years of incompetent s/ware. Looks like we sellers will have to bite the bullet and count on our own web sites for a percentage of sales.

This happened to me two or three weeks ago on an auction. I caught it before the auction ended and canceled the bid. I contacted the bidder and explained. Then I relisted it the correct way. I would suggest just keeping an eye on things as you get bids. You can catch it if the item has bids. Melanie

Do not use 'Reserves' in Yahoo Auctions?. I still get buyers who are confused about the 'Buy Prices'. You guys ever get that. They bid on the buy price, auction ends but in the notice they get from Yahoo, its states the auction at the start price so everyone thinks he got it at the start price.

I've heard the opposite, that the email shows the Buy price when the bidder actually only bid the opening. The only sure way to tell is looking at the advanced bid history page (email them that URL if they still dispute it).

I use a Buy price the same as the opening to avoid any confusion then say in the descrip "this auction will close as soon as you bid & you will win automatically".

Well, from the responses I'm getting - there is a whole set of problems here with Yahoo's bid software. However, it's easier finding a flea in the ocean than finding the right source to report all this to.
Yahoo -- makes sure we can't say Yoo-hoo and get anyone's attention on this. We're pretty much left to sink or swim on this stuff........oh, well, free has its penalties, right? I'll just take protective measures on all my listings. Thanks guys for writing...

I use reserve auctions without a hitch. You have to be careful listing and relisting. When you get to the preview page and see a mistake you click "back" when you do this the reserve is 0 you have to reenter your reserve price. mike
