Hearing the horror stories of non-support by the people at Yahoo, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if those kind folks would object to me placing a few test auctions on the site?

I'm thinking of buying an auction management tool that will send out messages automatically to the bidders/buyers. But before I plunk down my cash I'd like to give it a few "live" tests.

What I'm thinking of doing is placing several auctions (a max of 10 I guess) then have my SO place the "1st bid wins" using her account and then putting the software through it's paces.

I shudder to think of using it with real bidders then having it do something unexpected.

Any suggestions what catagory would be best?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me.

Dave

Dave,

I don't know but I see nothing wrong with what you propose doing. It is not like you are shill bidding.

I don't see any problem with that either. Not the same as shill bidding at all. What's the harm?

If it's possible to post to the "junk mail" category you might want to stick your stuff there. (I'm not sure I've never tried to post something in there & there was another recent thread about someone's stuff getting involuntarily put in the category by Yahoo.) At any rate it seems unlikely that anyone would bid on anything in that category so you'd probably be safe from bidders there.

Otherwise I'd recommend only posting auctions for items that you have, in case something goes awry & you do end up with a "first bid" winner that turns out to not be your SO. First bid wins auctions do close mighty quickly around Yahoo, especially auctions for desirable items. Wouldn't it be a trip If that happened on one of your tests?
