think I am going to start doing some listing on Yahoo. I have been reading here and it sounds encouraging. I tried one about a month ago and Yahoo automatically relisted for me 3 times when it didn't sell! What do I need to know about Auctions here that is different from Ebay? And how does this *first bid wins* thingy go? Would love to dive in and get my feet wet! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is much helpful advice on most threads here, the most important issues are:
--To get your photo on the free Yahoo gallery you must upload it direct to Yahoo on the submit item page
--You are limited to 3 photos--counters and Paypal logos etc count as photos. The seller gets a pageview counter automatically so you don't need to use one unless you want the hits public for some reason.
--2 ways to use Buy price 1. set it the same as your opening and put "First bid wins" in your title 2. set it a little higher than opening but enter in your description "you may use exact amount bid at buy price to win instantly and avoid competion from other bidders". If they proxy bid the lesser amount they could still win for that price so you want to encourage the higher bid.
--On the submit item page you must enter your amounts in BOTH the opening and BUY price boxes to use the buy price either way. When you hit the preview auction page make sure the buy price is showing.
--If you have duplicate items you have to run a Dutch ad OR list them one at a time. Multiple ads for identical items are not allowed.
--Question & Answer doesn't work too well, sometimes you can't access the ? or get Y! to enter the answer. It's better to put your email add in ad descrip & ask people to write you direct with ?'s. Any that do go through the Q&A on the ad page are available for public viewing and some sellers don't care for that.
