YAHOO is listening to MAM and this might be a good chance for sellers to suggest some things that they would like available.
Not that I would expect changes tomorrow but the experienced seller base is at the front line of making online auctions successful.
What do you want?
I will start with an improved category structure and better communications. The need for an emergency contact email/phone number in particular.

I would like to be able to change categories without having to kill the auction and do a total new listing please.

Announcement Board!!!!!!
With real time posts from Yahoo about system problems and resolutions.
We have been begging for this for 2 years.
On the shop by titles page some kind of icon (like the camera=photo one) for ads set up as First bid wins so we don't have to keep typing it in our titles. You've probably seen sites that have a colored Q or a "BUY" next to the price or in front of the title to indicate Quick win ads.
Heygrape's suggestion was actually the first that popped in my head on reading your post.

I would like to see a primary search page very similar to the one eBay uses. I have yet to find a site that comes anywhere close to matching the ease of eBay's search page. I find it frustrating to do a seller or bidder's search on Yahoo. I think one of the reason's eBay is so successful is that it's so easy to find stuff there. I've often wondered why the other auction sites don't realize the importance of the search feature on their sites.
Sorry for the length of the post, but after looking for stuff on eBay and then having a go at Yahoo, there's just no comparison. eBay wins by a long shot!

when viewing closed auctions, you can check radio buttons and delete them using a button. it would be nice to have another button to allow you to resubmit all checked auctions. this might take a little work because resubmit is usually a two-step process, but... well. it would be nice is all.

I agree with most of the other suggestions...here are mine...some are duplicates but I think it is important for everyone to voice their opinions so that Yahoo will know what changes we are ALL wanting. I've read the other posts about the Ebay sellers moving to Yahoo. ARE YOU LISTENING YAHOO?

1. Allow more images on listings.

2. Show email addresses of buyers and sellers.

3. Add a link in "My Auctions" to view my feedback page (received and given)without having to go to an auction page.

4. Allow to change auction category during the auction and also allow changing of category when re-submitting without killing the entire listing and starting all over.

5. Allow auction managers like AW to upload the "thumbnails" for auctions when using them for listing auctions.

6. Loose all those subcategories, for example, under WOMENS, CLOTHING, SLEEPWEAR there are 7 subcategories in sleepwear:lingerie, nightgowns, nightshirts, pajamas, robes, slippers, other. I would like to view ALL SLEEPWEAR not just ONE of those categories.TOO CONFUSING FOR A BUYER and too easy for a seller to loose sales.

If anyone agrees with me please add to the list. Please note: I am NOT complaining...just making suggestions. I LOVE FREE--DON'T CHANGE THAT!!!

I share a concern that many others have expressed, over time, that YAHOO has not been a site where you could start an item at a low opening bid and trust that it would attract enough bidder attention to bring a fair market price.
This results in sellers using high opening bids or reserves.
I would be willing to list some items at $1.00 opening bid, no reserve, if YAHOO would group or link all these type of auctions together as a feature.
Amazon is presently doing something of this nature but they limit participation to their own inventory and some selected very large sellers.
Seems many of us feel that with enough eyeballs on an items it will attract bidders and reach, on average, a reasonable price. Present traffic seems to support 1st Bid Wins but not bidding wars.
As a buyer and seller I would love $1.00 starting bid auctions. Add one to three day durations and you'll have me checking the category all the time. Snipers will come and with auto-extension a "live" auction experience will add excitement to an otherwise mostly retail site.
Adding fun, potential for great bargains and time sensitivity to the process will make YAHOO auctions a "must check daily bookmark" on tens of thousands of computers.

It's looking like ebayers are moving over here in large numbers. I hope they don't bring the "ebay attitude" with them. If they start jumping down Yahoo's throat with demands, I fear Yahoo will be free no more.
Grapey
Hoping our little Camelot stays the way it is.
