Hi! I've finaly learned how to set up, and upload my cvs files. One thing is still not working right, though. The cell for my description is not acepting enough text. It takes 2 rows of text and not the 50 000 characters that it should. How can I change the amount of text that can go in one cell in my cvs file? Thanks, Heike

I assume you are using Microsoft Excel and saving it in .csv format, right?

I know little about Excel but I am using it for bulk loading successfully. Here are some thoughts:

When you quit Excel after saving it in .csv format (which Microsoft doesn't like....it would rather you use their format), the program tries to persuade you to re-save it in default format. DO NOT do it.

COPY and PASTE your item description into the cell for that, but remember not to past it directly into the cell. Instead, click on the cell and then click on the FORMULA BAR just above all the cells (after the = sign) and enter it in that window. You should see the cell expand to fit all your text.

Make this the last entry you do for each auction because it will be very hard to read the rest of that line after a big cell has expanded. Then hit the ENTER key to goto the next line and next auction.

I save after each auction. There mey be a better way to shrink the big cell visually after entering data but the only way I've found is to quit Excel and load it and your work right back up again. Then you can see the whole sheet in front of you and scroll around with the arrow keys.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi ZZyzx000! Thanks for the tip, but it still comes back with "Text too long " I'm using Exel from Office95, Could this be the problem? What I'm doing now is, upload the auctions, wait until they show, get back and change descriptions to include all the text. But it's time consuming.
If you have any ideas, let me know.
Heike

I use Excel from Office 97.

Maybe that's the diff, but I doubt it.

Hi!
I get the text in the top row, but can't finish the operetion. When I need to hit "return" it gives me the message "text too long" I'll look for another spreadsheet and see if this helps. I have the microsoft works spreadsheet, too. Maybee I have more luck with that.

I don't have the " pop up in my spreadsheet. Had to put it in myself.
