Bidding seems to be very slow this week. Anyone else agree?
Oh, has anyone figured out the mystery "reward" equation yet? I'm still stumped.

Very VERY slow. Worst I've seen and I have been selling Yahoo for over 9 mos.
No doubt the cc verification is part of the reason and the lack of order is probably helping the hurting too.
I hope it recovers.

Are the regular listings still out of order? That stinks.
I thought the rewards might help sales a little due to less listings, but apparently the cc verification more than made up for that!

Hi,
It is almost non-existent for me. I am mostly back to eBay, I think I will stay there for a while but I miss Yahoo dreadfully. Helen

My sales are so dead on ebay, I'm about to give them "last rights".
Yahoo sales are a tad slow but still perking right along.

I cant really complain since the last 6 weeks have been the best I have seen but this week on yahoo has been worse then dead for me and ebay hasnt been to good either.
But I have started receiveing offers on serveral of my yahoo Items in my email today.
I hope bidding picks up soon for sure there is less then 60 some days til the holidays start and even less time before outdoor flea markets in the northeast close for the winter I would like to thin out some of my inventory make room for new before winter is here.
Oh well I dont mind email offers though this will not do much for my feed back.

I believe it is more do to the disorganized viewing methods Yahoo installed back along with the rule of 1000!
Old viewing methods worked in a time sequence order and now you have to go through extra clicks to get there! If a prospective customer knows where or which one to click!
I no longer browse as a buyer, since it is a pain in the behind!
If you have to view 10 pages to get to an auction that closes in five minutes, It will probably be closed before you get to it!
Unless you are fortunate enough to have DSL or cable!

Ebay was GREAT in August!
Yahoo was really inspiring at the end of August and first part of Sept.
Ebay DIED Sept. 1 for me.
Yahoo DIED this week for me.
Waiting impatiently for Oct.

I do not know if warr or some you realize there is a real simple way around the listing problem. Just click on the "time left" tab on the right hand side of the screen and the page will refresh with the listings in the proper order. The only drawback is this eliminates the featured auctions.

mandalore,
Yes, you can put the listings in correct ending order by clicking on "Time Left"....BUT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO!!!!! They should ALREADY be in ending order, as the DEFAULT listing method.
I just don't understand WHY Yahoo took the listings out of time-sequence (ending) order, and WHY they DON'T PUT THEM BACK the way they were. Surely they can see the "jumbled" listings ARE A MISTAKE, can't they?????
Even worse, when a prospective bidder clicks on "Time Left" to sort the listings by ending time (IF he knows enough to do it and takes the time to bother), all the featured listings LOSE THEIR FEATURED PLACEMENT and are put in the list with the rest of the auctions, by ending time.
I'm not about to pay to feature anything until this problem is fixed.

My worst week of sales for the 12 months I've been selling with Yahoo. I can't believe that the CC Verification is solely responsible (I was actually in favor of it)but something is definitely wrong. Many of the changes I've seen on Yahoo seem to be in response to sellers comments. The bad news is that it usually takes months. I believe the CC verification will hurt sales until the folks at Yahoo modify the current policy.
Such as making it an option along with the Minimum Bidder Rating.
I don't consider eBay an option.

The jumbled listing werent a mistake on yahoo's part at all.
Jumbleing the listing gives all auctions new 10 day long auctions and closeing today a chance of being in the top 3 pages at anytime.
Also incurages people with auction ending today to put up .10 or so to be featured on top the thumb nail and listing and then as a matter of fairness they lowered the bid price for feature to .10 min and if the item sells you get half of that back.
Buyers or sellers who want to see them in some order they added links to list by bid day and so on to make it even easyer to find what you want they have search and view photos only as well.
Yahoo is working very hard to not only get more sellers but to show its service is fair by not haveing all new auction buried where they cant be found.
They are tring to show that yahoo does have a comunity by adding there club link and seller zone to there auctions these things arent new they were alway there.
But what they under estimated was the effect asking all buyers new and old who bid to register a credit card would have.
They did this none the less to show that they do want a good reputation as a auction venue and they do care about seller and buyer fraud and dead beats and are willing to do what it takes on there part to control this.
the 1000 Item listing is another step they took based on what people said was there was to many auction that just got relisted wek after week month after month with no change and to many junk and double listings there.so now they make people work a bit toward good service and good selling record for more free listings.
pluss all the other changes they have made and have planed and there listing still remain free.
I dont want to be sounding like a yahoo cheer leader but when you look at what they did there is a lot of sense in thee things and they are answers to most of the complaints we have heard about not only yahoo but ebay as well.
Remember the past few winters since ebay and yahoo required sellers register with Credit cards sellers been yelling why dont they protect us and make buyers register, yahoo is just the frist to step up and take this chance it was at the sellers request.

dman - most would agree that I AM a Yahoo cheerleader, and I think the jumbled listings bite. It gives the appearance of chaos and disorganization, I'd even go as far as to call it schizophrenic. This has got to be fixed, it does NOT grow on a person and I bet that at least 1/2 of people who see it have no idea they can click and order it.

First, I agree that this was probably not a glitch or a mistake, I do believe it was intentional.
Second, I disagree that this was done in fairness to the sellers. The way it was before was fair, this is not! Before, every sellers auction appeared on the 1st page before they closed, regardless of how long they ran the auction for. The way it is now, I have NEVER had an auction appear on the first page...most of them are on at least page 30! Who is that being fair to.
Third, the idea of jumbling the listings has already been tried....by Amazon. What happened when they tried it? Buyers did not click the extra buttons to sort the auctions the way they should have appeared to begin with. Instead, they left Amazon and went elsewhere. The sellers sold nothing because most of the bidders had left, and those who hadn't couldn't find their auctions easily. As a result, the sellers left. Look at Amazon now!

Ditto here also!
I do believe most of us that have been around these services know how to operate them!
Extra "clicks" do not encourage new folks to find items or stay on a site!!
I used to browse "toys-diecast-matchbox" via the PHOTOS ONLY" in a time sequence order on almost a daily basis for a 24 hour period of photos!
Now I rarely look, since I do not care to see the photos or wait for them to download of auctions ending in 10 days!
I will continue listing randomly as I have done for over two years and hope things get better!
Yahoo is trying, but this is an "Auction Sight" and the last minutes is when the hammer falls and not ten days away!
That is what the search engines are for to give one advance notice!

Thank you also! Most of you heads up Yahooers are seeing the same thing I have been grumbling about, since the rule of 1000!
End of August!
I have only seen a couple of my closing auctions on the photo headliner, since this new viewing method was established!
I usually have to go to page 40 plus to even see if the thumbnails worked or can check them out in "My Auction Booth"!

yankeejoe, what do you mean another slow sales thread Last 2 weeks I hardly sold any substantial amount. What isn't everyone mailing me their pay stubs. I need sales. Well things are picking up.
Anyone here notice that sales tend to dip towards the middle of the month & pick up towards the end of the month...maybe its just me.

Well I keep records of my Yahoo sales for tax purposes and I checked out my sales for this time last year and they are way up compared to this year. I sell electronics so my customer base is usually younger. I have about 140 auctions running now but only 1 has a bid on it, and that's the Compaq Ipaq that everyone is going crazy for. Most people pay me via check or money order and don't have a credit card. Seems that Yahoo has flushed my customer base down the toilet. I would rather be dealing with deadbeats (which I still get) than no sales at all.

Well I did state what yahoo seems to be trying to do here.
I never said I agree totally with it and I never said it was working at all. I also didn't give the reply because I felt all would agree with me.
Sales for me are down over last year at this time. The market to has shifted since last year as well.
catagories people are buying from have changed as well but there is more to it then that at yahoo right now all catagories are down.
has to do with the fact that there are more teens and college students shopping and bidding then most wanted to admit. and far less credit card payment then companys like paypal want to admit you can make payment through paypal with balances in the account paypal an easy way for mom and dad to send money from there CC to kids in college they pay auction bid from a balance in there paypal account.
also many of these payments were made through debit cards which are a direct deposit transfer from one bank to another.
People dont want to use there debit cards to verfiy for yahoo its linked to all there bill money and saveings.not as comforting to do as a credit card with a limit set on it.
I think some type of off line address verification for all would work they send a form to your home you must send back to conferm names and addresses.
I have said this in the past and I will say it again the future of online auctions is going to be the flat rate monthly fee to sell and buyers with paper billing thur snail mail for the frist billing to conferm name and address and to set up in writeing credit card payment and contract info something like $20 or $30 a month unlimted listings even if you still pay for the extras like featureing items and icons and all.
this will be for regular sellers and then there will be like ebay has power sellers where you pay biger fees for different levels of service up to merchant accounts.
and all credit card payment option will be through the auction sites merchant account only there will be no out side paypal type options needed for auctions all will be self contained.and to gain loyalty buyers to will have to register and pay a small yearly fee as well which would be done through snail mail to conferm name of who they are dealing with age and so on.
accounts will be set up by yahoo or ebay and not the buyer or sellers at all. This will cut down on dead beats big time who would pay a monthly-yearly fee to make bids they dont intend to honor.
I think in time the feed back system will change so there is no number bases it will all work on sucess stories or the down falls of dealing with each other and rather then it showing up in each account random stories about seller and buyer will show up in the front page.and we will all be held more to over all public view of each seller/buyer.
