My auction shows 6 bids but no high bidder.

The auction has not reached reserve yet.

Does the high bidder only show up AFTER reaching reserve?

I checked the bidding history and the same bidder bid all six times, but I don't see where he retracted or canceled any bids.

Evidently the buyer bid 6 times trying to reach your reserve. After that the buyer gave up.

Oooops! I meant to tell you that Yes, until the reserve is met it won't show you have a high bidder. He didn't retract any bids but was trying to discover your reserve price.
