Does anyone know if this function is working?

I am wanting to buy my children something and have asked seller a question twice in 3 days and not gotten a response. My question is very simple and not offensive, nothing someone might be inclined to ignore.

Well - judge for yourself:

~~The only information in the entire auction is the title, a pic and the words "S-M-L" and I need to know if the t shirt is a child or an adult size. ~~~

Seller has 0 feedback. Any ideas?

You never know how people will take your printed words. Sometimes they will read it differently than you thought it should be.

I do not mean to offend your choice of words, but some people are, lets say to be polite, not to swift. "The only information in the entire auction is the title---".

I would have kept it simple, such as "Could you please tell me if this is child, or adult sizes".

Again, I emphasize, I see nothing wrong with your question. How anyone asks me, I will answer. I don't read any type of complaint in anyones question, some do.

oh!
I did not write *that* to the seller.

All I asked was whether the S-M-L referred to children or adult sizes. I also asked if children sizes - if it was for 2-6 yr olds or 8-10 yrs olds - ish.

See... from the pic I cannot tell.

I get your point though.

edit to add - I don't know if I was clear here. I was not critical of the seller's ad when I asked a question - I was trying in my first post to explain WHY I asked a question - and that it was reasonable. Not like asking "what is shipping cost" when it is stated in the ad.

Well, if they have 0 FB & they're not responding to your questions then I don't think I'd bid.

Of course the Q&A feature MAY not be working, but I've used it successfully many times so I have difficulty believing that niether of your 2 questions made it through. Maybe you could watchlist it & wait to see if they email you back?

The "someone has asked a question" email to the seller comes from a Yahoo address, so as to protect the privacy of the potential bidder. Is it possible that the seller has all Yahoo notification emails turned off, or is simply deleting them without realizing this isn't a spam?

Emm some sellers don't reply to questions just like they don't reply to you when you e-mail them. The function btw does work. I've always received it just fine & I do reply when the questions are relevant.

BTW most sellers don't sit & watch their auctions or check their e-mails every 30 mins. So e-mailing them 3 times in 30 mins isn't going to help. They will get to it when they have time...

uh... I emailed them a second time after 3 days passed, not 3 times in 30 minutes. Criminy!

I switched e-mail addresses weeks ago, and since then I haven't received any notifications or questions at all. Since they're a new seller, I doubt this is the case tho.

Bottom line - I can't buy without more info.

I was hoping to get some idea from the board whether odds were that the seller was not getting the question because then I could try to email them direct theirname@yahoo.

OTOH if my mails are getting through and being ignored, I would not want to bother them further. I was just considering a last ditch effort to contact before moving along.
For the record, I mailed a seller about 6 or 8 months ago about an item he had listed and he wrote me back in a manner that turned me off. That thing is still listed today. I personally think that if you want to sell to the public, you have to answer questions, and this includes the stupid ones.

VM--did you include your e-mail in your question so that they didn't have to figure out how to answer through Yahoo's system? That could be the problem.

If you would like, you can go to any of my auctions and try to send a question. I will tell you if your questions are coming through: labbies_attic

Or you COULD be on ignore! ROFL!

now how could be possible to be placed in the blacklist if VM did not bid from this seller before?

it could be possible that the seller had spelled his/her e-mail addy wrong

VeryModern I just had a thought... did you check back to 'Ask Seller a Question' again to see if it got answered??

toomanycomics The crack about being on ignore was an inside joke. VM accidently got put on ignore by another person on AW who couldn't figure out how to un-ignore last night. It was hilarious and we had a good laugh over the incident. Sorry!

Good idea to check the auction. I did and find that there are 3 unanswered questions so apparently I am not alone. Also, I did put my email in the 2nd question I asked.

New seller to Yahoo, but based on what he/she is selling probably not a new seller. I will try to buy in a month or so when they've had a chance to figure out how Yahoo works. No doubt the thing'll still be there, it is highly specialized. Kind of like if you are a red headed Pisces with brown eyes this is just the thing for you! Impossible to sell until the day it does.

Wow! Am I intrigued! Something that can fit anyone from a small infant to a large adult and you can't tell by the picture, yet is "highly specialized". Wow! Hmmmmm....

I totally agree with that comment. I answer all questions politely, regardless of sensibility. I also tell them "Thanks for your inquiry" at the end of my reply.

You never know when this person may turn out to be a real good customer, and repeat customer, also. Being respectful costs nothing, and it's just plain polite.

It's a t-shirt labbie.

This guy/gal probably picked up these t-shirts in bulk on the cheap because someone did not realize when they printed them that only people who were both X, Y and Z would buy one. Since hardly anyone meets that criteria, they did not sell well.

My children meet the criteria, and we are amused by the cheesy t-shirts, and I would like to buy at least 2 for our own delight.

VM--Ahhhhhhhh....You are lucky that you have "red headed Pisces with brown eyes" children.

I do agree that a good seller should answer all questions in a friendly manner and thank you for asking at the end. Great customer relations is SO important!

There is no such thing as a stupid question. there are however stupid people. I'm sure we all know at least one. I'm not referring to anyone here since I don't really know anyone. Just wanted to post this reply. Also want to thank Yahoo for no business since they changed their policy. Not one sale! My last auction closed on September 15th. No Christmas this year unless things change quickly!

I don't think I can give an item number - it's against the TOS here ioughta, otherwise I'd cop.

Hey VM, I am dying of curiosity! Really I am!

Since the reason it is against the TOS here is that it will identify someone, and since on Yahoo, everyone is more or less "incognito" would it still be against the AW TOS?

Well, I guess I shouldn't ask you--I should as a moderator huh?

Of course, you could just e-mail it to me.

labbie1, passing the information by e-mail would be great.

All of my auctions have a direct email link to me. Very few people on Yahoo seem to use it though. People are creatures of habit!

I have found that most of the time I get the e-mail notice that someone has asked a question - there was a point in time that I wasn't getting the notices, and I would have no idea someone had asked a question.

99% of the time the questions I get asked are answered in the post, but it doesn't seem many buyers take time to read the information in an ad.

I'm happy to answer questions, would rather answer them to the buyer directly rather than have to go to Yahoo to post an answer. I have a link to my e-mail in my ads, but don't find anyone uses it.
