So -- how does a seller (me) get in touch with a winning bidder if that persons e-mail address is marked "private"? He's got a positive feedback score, but I can't seem to get his e-mail address...

The winner does not get the sellers email address either. And so far all efforts to get Yahoo to send it to me have gone unanswered. I do not like the system at all since the changes were made to the notifications. There is no way for me to verify that someone sending me payment instructions is the person who listed the auction. I sent email to Yahoo telling them that I will not use their site anymore until the end of auction notices contain email addresses for both seller and winning bidders. That email has also gone unanswered, big suprise!!

Well I finally got a response from Yahoo. They claim that sellers are provided with the winning bidders email addresses in the end of auction notices. They also say that a seller can go to the closed item page and it will show the email addresses for the winners at the bottom of the page. They will not give me the sellers email address for any reason. Sellers take note, until Yahoo provides seller email addresses in the notices at the end of an auction, I will no longer bid on any items listed on their site. With out the sellers email address I have no way to verify the person sending me payment instructions is the person who listed the item.

I am a seller on Yahoo and I have my address phone and email address listed on my auctions page. Why other sellers are "afraid" to give out this info is beyond me. I have to wait till the end of auction to find out my bidders email address but occasionaly they do contact me prior to the end of auction. Yahoo has been making more and more improvements to the site but of course there are things I would like changed. For a FREE site it is great though and I cannot understand why everyone is so quick to run over to amazon and say how great it is when it is just as expensive to sell there as it is on Ebay. For the bidders, just look for the good sellers out there, who give you plenty of info about themselves, there are some of us around.

Ok, Yahoo finally got back to me. The winner's address is, now, at the very bottom of the closed item's description page (I don't care what they say -- it wasn't there two days ago!). I have to believe that this was just an oversight on Yahoo's part. An auction doesn't do much good without some knowledge of who the players are....
