It's not easy as a buyer on Ebay but I have had no problems with the SELLERS as I have on Yahoo.

So who are these sellers that sold you the "bad" memory chips? I'm sure you must have left negative feedback....right???

I've not run into any outright thieves, but have had several ebay sellers who would not sell and others whose goods were less than described, haven't happened to hit either on yahoo. "Buyer beware" applies on both venues.

I sell on both venues and have happy customers on both. I work to make my customers very happy with e-mail updates throughout the transactions and feedback.
I have purchased software on Yahoo for over $300 and it was a smooth, seamless transaction.
There are good and bad sellers on both venues. The best information that we have is the feedback. In that way, there are checks and balances. And then when we are entering into transactions, we have a guide or "report card" to help us out.
gmileske I hope you left appropriate feedback on those bad transactions.

I never could understand why a buyer has one bad experiance with a particular seller, and wants to scrap the whole auction site? If you get one bad salesperson, at a major department store, do you no longer go to that store?
That's what customer feedback is, just like feedback on auction sites. You don't stop doing business there, you just make it known that particular individual needs attention. And you do that by making it known.

My last month's worth of purchases on Ebay:
3 books won from the same seller. Paid by postal money order 9/11/00. Received books 10/10/00. had to email seller twice. Received lame excuses both times- she was busy with work. HELLO! If you're too busy to deliver your items please don't sell on Ebay. (Left negative feedback for her.)
1 antique needlwork book, advertised as "The front cover has come loose." paid by postal money order. Received 3 weeks later. Actual condition: cover plus every page in the book have come loose. *SIGH*
Wooden bowl on pedestal, advertised as "in good condition." received in a timely manner; no complaints there. Actual condition: the bowl is in 2 pieces; the top has completely become separated from the pedestal of the bowl. Bowl had obviously been broken and mended before; NO mention of that whatsoever in the ad. Seller is insisting that I should collect the insurance on it as the bowl wasn't broken when she sent it. I am most unhappy about this situation.
I have had SO MUCH SUCCESS buying things at bargain prices on Ebay, but I can only say that buying on either venue is somewhat of a gamble. In the scenarios mentioned above, I gambled and lost. Let me just say, though, that I paid bargain basement prices for everything mentioned. IT so happens that I was disappointed in all 3 cases. There have been many more times when I've opened my goody boxes & been THRILLED with what I got. My success rate on Ebay is lots better than my success rate playing the slots at Vegas, anyway, & Ebay is a lot closer to home.
The three purchases I made on Yahoo this month were flawless. The only problem I have with Yahoo is that not enough people are selling the merchandise I want to buy!
