maybe the reason for the slow down of sales compared to last year at this time is the presidental year. things are uncertain ???
also, the auctions on yahoo alone have doubled, if not tripled, plus the spam problem as well, and credit card verification now??? i found out across the board many business are seeing a hugh difference in sales compared to last year, the only ones not being effected is where i live disney world, and universal studios florida the sales are going thru the roof. many business come down here to hold meetings, food, hotels, and etc... how is the sales in your auctiond doing compared to last year at this time. respectfully;
startrek/wolftrek ???

Sales are very good. I am very happy with the recent results. We saw a drastic drop for 2-3 weeks when all the changes hit but sales have rebounded nicely since.

We sell items across many (well, almost every) category so when no bites in part of the lake things are hopping in another arena. I think it is critical to diversify. What sold well last year is not necessarily performing as well this year due to less interest, more competition, or both. Thing is, this year we are selling things we never imagined last year that more than make up for the loss.

What I don't understand is that, in general, most of what I list on ebay sells. Often, pretty well. But my sale rate on Yahoo has just taken a dive as a bunch of stuff closed un-sold. I understand about re-listing and don't really mind too much that they didn't go. Except that it makes it hard for me to figure out what WOULD sell. Same problem with Amazon.com.

Half.com is the same way, seemingly random for the most part. I don't know what it is about ebay, that allows me to sell most things the first time around, unless they simply have the largest customer base in the game, which I suspect is true.

I HAVE TO ADMIT ,
deadbeats have been down since they installed credit card for everyone to verification process. but sales have suffered too. i applied for credits from my ebay account, and yahoo was super fast to give them to me, i recieved them with in 24 hours, i just had to reconfirm my e-mail address. the posse has everyoone up in arms as well. i can't understand why??? they are a small group trying to make yahoo a better place to bid, and enjoy. after all if they were what some accuse them of they would cut their own throats as well, by hurting their own sales. but what i have seen on yahoo, women's used panties for auction, and someone's body liquid's i get sick just seeing those auctions, so i am 100% glad the posse is here to oversee those problems. but i wish sales would pick up, i have had bids , but mostly new people, and only one bid each, and i had to feature these auctions to get bids, and i reduce everything to 50% off the book price to move the items faster. many e-mail saying they won't give their bank account, or social security, or charge card over the internet. in a way i can't blame them, but as a seller and buyer i can understand the rules, i just wish auctions would be less of a hassle, and more fun again like years ago, when it first was in it's baby stages...
