Hi everyone! I REALLY need your advise on this one. I have been selling on auctions for over a year now and this has NEVER happened to me before. Here is what happened. I recieved payment for item and address to ship. I shipped to the address received Priority mail with delivery confirmation. I always offer insurance that this person didnt take but I dont this it applies in this situation! It appears to have arrived at it's destination however, here is the kicker! The bidder never received the item because the address they gave me is their work address. Now the work address is fine BUT there are Many COMPANIES AT THE SAME ADDRESS! Now the winning bidder cannot find the item that I had sent! The only thing I could think of is that this person should check with all companies at this address to see if they can trace it! OH GEEZ, what a dilema! ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I don't see this as your problem. You fulfilled your side of the auction contract and have proof that the package was successfully delivered to the address given by the buyer.

Be sympathetic but do not offer any refund. Just tell the buyer that you will immediately advise if the package should be "returned to sender".

Ditto. Your buyer chose an address that has numerous companies. If there is a problem with the way mail is handled there, it is his problem because it was his choice. You can prove you sent it, so you have no further obligation.

If you go to:

http://www.framed.usps.com/ncsc/locators/find-po.html

You can plug in the address and zip that the package was sent to.

This will give you the post office sub station name and number that is responsible for delivering mail to that area.

Give them a call and tell them the problem. (for free phone calls, you can use the calling portion of Yahoo! Messenger--which uses Net2Phone or DialPad.com) Ask if the package is at their station or to whom the mail is delivered when addressed to that particular building and ask them how to proceed. I am sure that they can help.

Good luck.

UBB--sorry

Labbie1:

Good suggestions - but perhaps the buyer should be the one spending the time doing the phoning.

stockticker Good point.

Perhaps if you just looked up the sub-station and phone number you could e-mail the info to the buyer and suggest they give a call to the PO to find out where the package would have been delivered.

I just had a package returned to me last week "insuffcient address". Turns out the guy lives in an apartment house and his number was something like 12-762 so it must be huge but he did not think it was important to include.

I shipped the thing back to him after getting a proper address and asked him to mail back the $3.20 since I had to ship twice. I hope he will - totally his error.
Point is, the thing may be on it's way back to you.

Thanks Very Modem, Unfortunately, delivery confirmation showed it was delivered on 10/31 Doesnt that mean that it was delivered??? Maybe someone in one of the offices will see that it is in error and return it. I hope. I just called the post office. I had a hard time getting through TO the specific post office. I asked specifically to talk the personnel at that specific post office, the phone rep offered every available offic, including the inspector's office before she relented and connected me to the delivery post office I needed. We will see what happens

You shouldn't have to worry about the bidder's problem now. The bidder chose to have you send the package to a certain address and you did. Now its up to the bidder to trace the package.
