Okay, what are all of you selling that has attracted DBB?????
I keep on reading about how bidders do not pay, but what is it they are and have been winning???
Suggestion.. start using and accept Only
Money Orders and Online Payment, which must be sent within 5 days of close.
And make your auction Look Professional..
to many sellers and bidders think this is like a game. Never use ANY of the words
WOW LOOK RARE those are all awful.
Try to be always Honest with no sorryful hype.

I don't find problems with Deadbeats - some folks are a bit slow, but we haven't had many problems with deadbeats, particularly since we started using Auction Tamer to keep a close watch and update on our auctions, and since Yahoo started requiring a credit card.
I would think there are certain products and certain price ranges which do attract more of the deadbeats, regardless.....
I would suspect that items which appeal to the younger set would attract more deadbeats...but that is just a guess.
We deal in decorative home items, lamps, dinner wear, antiques and such, and seldom attract a deadbeat....but our items don't appeal to the teen set.
BUT, as I said after we started using AuctionTamer things really changed....we love the boast AuctionTamer has given us.

I agree with you that accepting online payments cuts down on deadbeating since well- intentioned customers are likely to whip ou their credit card & pay immediately while they're in the buying mood; if they didn't have that ability they might well forget or lose interest later & deadbeat. I don't see how accepting money orders does anything to cut down on deadbeats though; it's the most labor-intensive way for the customer to pay, and sometimes that customer just doesn't have time to physically go buy a money order at the time of purchase. That means that if you make the sale on a Tuesday morning (for example), the customer may well have to wait days later until the weekend before (s)he has time to get to the post office or walmart or wherever to buy the M.O. If you ask me, the longer they have to wait to pay, the less likely they are to pay. That's my 2¢ worth.
Now, as to which categories attract the most deadbeats- in my (admittedly limited) experience-
-women's clothing, especially items with junior labels like XOXO & Roxy
-Men's clothing too, somewhat less frequently (there was one pair of Nike athletic pants that I sold 5 times before I actually SOLD it.)
-anything with Mariah Carey, Britney Spears or
NSYNC.

no. 1 way to find a dead beats on yahoo at least up untill the bidder credit card registration is to list music memoribilia of near any type.
I have had to sell near 50% of all my music Memoribilia two or three times or hold the Items even with as low winning bid of .75 for up to two months before getting payments because of the young kids that were bidding were not just talking teens and college students I have had 10 and 11 year olds win and write me asking to hold Items a few weeks till they could get enough to pay for a fifty cent Item .
not that I minded doing this for someone but I found that 90% who didnt pay after three weeks lost interest forgot disapeared never to be heard from again.
for the young kids who come thru I know they are not supose to be there bidding but they are they are at least learning responceabilty as for the others who knows what they learned maybe how to keep busy on a snow day out of school
In fact last winter I could guess my busy bidding days on yahoo by watching the weather channel if there was a big snow storm on the map I was sure to have a load of bids the next day or two on music mem stuff .....
