Logged into my PayDirect account tonight and noticed a sweepstakes starting Nov. 6th. SOME OF OUR QUESTIONS ABOUT CHARGEBACKS ARE ANSWERED IN THE RULES. Here are the rules:

THE FOLLOWING SWEEPSTAKES IS INTENDED FOR PLAY IN THE UNITED STATES ONLY AND SHALL ONLY BE CONSTRUED AND EVALUATED ACCORDING TO UNITED STATES LAW. DO NOT ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES IF YOU ARE NOT LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES.
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY.
OPEN TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ONLY, 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. VOID IN PUERTO RICO, THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, U.S. MILITARY INSTALLATIONS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES, AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
ENTRY IN THIS SWEEPSTAKES CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES.
1. ELIGIBILITY: You must be a legal resident of the United States and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Void in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. military installations in foreign countries, and where prohibited by law. Employees and agents of Yahoo!, CIBC National Bank, their respective parents, affiliates, any other prize sponsor, and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the Sweepstakes (all of the foregoing, together with Yahoo! and CIBC National Bank, collectively referred to as "Sponsors and Administrators", and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of such individuals, are not eligible to participate or win.
The Sweepstakes begins Monday, November 6, 2000 at 12:00 AM PST and ends Sunday, February 11, 2001 at 11:59 PM PST (the "Sweepstakes Period". Drawings will be conducted daily, weekly, monthly and at the conclusion of the Sweepstakes Period. Twenty (20) prizes will be awarded in each of 1960 daily drawings (each, a "Daily Drawing"; one (1) prize will be awarded in each of fourteen (14) weekly drawings (each, a "Weekly Drawing", one (1) prize will be awarded in each of three (3) monthly drawings (each, a "Monthly Drawing", and one (1) grand prize will be awarded for the entire Sweepstakes Period (the "Grand Prize Drawing".
2. HOW TO ENTER: There are two ways to enter any Drawing:
Automatic Online Entry: An eligible Yahoo! PayDirect registered user with an account in good standing (a "PayDirect User" automatically qualifies for a chance to win each time a PayDirect Send Money, Request Money, or Group Billing transaction initiated by the PayDirect User is completed during the Sweepstakes Period (each such entry referred to as an "Automatic Entry". For the purposes of this Sweepstakes and these Official Rules, a PayDirect User shall be considered in good standing if, in Yahooęs sole determination, the PayDirect user is in full compliance with the Yahoo! PayDirect Terms of Service located at https://paydirect.yahoo.com//PD/ui/us/help/tos.pd?arthas1=Deleted. A Transaction shall be considered completed when a transfer of funds has taken place that can no longer be reclaimed or cancelled by the party sending the funds.
For example:
(1) Send Money Transaction: when the recipient party accepts the transferred funds, the sender can no longer cancel the payment. At that point, the Transaction is deemed complete and the sender receives an Automatic Entry.
(2) Request Money Transaction: the requesting party initiates the Transaction by requesting funds from another person. When the person from whom money is requested remits payment and the recipient accepts that payment, the remitting party can no longer reclaim the transferred funds. At that point, the Transaction is deemed complete and the requesting party receives an Automatic Entry.
(3) Group Billing Transaction: the requesting party submits a request for payment to one or more people. A person from whom money is requested remits payment to the requestor. Once the requestor accepts that payment, the remitting party can no longer reclaim the transmitted funds. At that point, the Transaction is deemed complete for purposes of this Sweepstakes, and the requestor receives ONE Automatic Entry, regardless of whether there are additional remitting parties to the same transaction whose submitted funds are subsequently accepted by the requestor.
Transactions which are fraudulent, canceled, refused, tampered with, altered, or otherwise in violation of the Yahoo! PayDirect Terms of Service are not eligible for an Automatic Entry. Even though you may initiate and/or complete additional Yahoo! PayDirect Transactions on any given Day, only the first five Transactions initiated by you and completed on any given Day will be eligible for Automatic Entries into that dayęs Daily Drawings.
In the event of a dispute about the identity of an online entrant, each Automatic Entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the PayDirect account used to submit the entry. An authorized account holder is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned the submitted e-mail address by the relevant Internet service provider, online access provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. With respect to any winning entry, the winner may be required to provide Sponsors and Administrators with proof that the person is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
Mail-in Entry: To enter by mail without purchase or obligation (a "Mail-In Entry", hand-print your first and last name, mailing address (no post office boxes), email address (if available), and daytime telephone number on a 3" x 5" card and mail to: Yahoo! PayDirect Mail-In Entries, P.O. Box 3031, Department I, St. Cloud, MN 56397. You may submit up to five entries bearing the same postmark date via Mail-In Entry during the Sweepstakes Period, but only one Mail-In Entry per stamped envelope will be accepted. Mail-In Entries may be postmarked beginning November 2, 2000.
The following applies to both methods of entry: YOU MAY ENTER VIA AUTOMATIC ENTRY A MAXIMUM OF FIVE TIMES FOR ANY GIVEN DAY, OR YOU MAY ENTER BY MAIL A MAXIMUM OF FIVE TIMES ON ANY GIVEN DAY. YOU MUST CHOOSE ONE METHOD OF ENTRY PER DAY AND MAY NOT COMBINE METHODS OF ENTRY ON ANY GIVEN DAY. The submission of an entry is solely the responsibility of the entrant. Third party entries and mechanically reproduced entries are not permitted and will be disqualified. Illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, mutilated, or garbled entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of Yahoo! and none will be acknowledged or returned.
3. DRAWING PERIODS, ENTRY DEADLINES, AND SELECTION OF WINNERS:
Daily Drawings: The 24 hours from 12:00 AM PT to 11:59 PM PT. constitute a "Day" for the purpose of the Daily Drawings. Each Monday through Friday during the Sweepstakes Period, a random drawing will be conducted from all Automatic and Mail-In Entries received each Day to select the Daily Prize winners. There will be no drawings on Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays. Automatic Entries received on Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be combined with all Mail-In Entries received on Monday to award three (3) daily prize packages (Saturday, Sunday and Monday winners). Drawings for the Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving (11/24/00), Christmas, Tuesday after Christmas (12/26/00), New Yearęs Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday (1/17/01) Daily Prizes will be conducted on the following business day. The last Daily Drawing will be conducted the Monday after the last Sunday of the Sweepstakes Period from all Automatic Entries posted on the prior Friday and all Mail-In Entries postmarked that Friday. No Automatic Entries will be accepted on the last Saturday and Sunday of the Sweepstakes Period for purposes of a Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Grand Prize drawing.
Weekly Drawings: The seven days beginning 12:00 AM PT Monday through 11:59 PM Sunday PT constitute a "Week" for purposes of a Weekly Drawing. Each Monday during the Sweepstakes Period, a random drawing will be conducted from among all Automatic Entries received during the previous Week and all Mail-In Entries received from 12:00 noon on the previous Monday through 11:59 AM on the Monday of the drawing to select that Weekęs Weekly Prize winner. The last Weekly Drawing will be conducted on the Monday after the last Sunday of the Sweepstakes Period.
Monthly Drawings: The following days constitute the "Monthly Drawing Periods": (a) November 6, 2000 - December 7, 2000; (b) December 8, 2000 - January 7, 2001; and (c) January 8, 2001 - February 11, 2001. On or about the next business day after the end of each of the Monthly Drawing Periods listed above, a random drawing will be conducted from all Automatic and Mail-In Entries received during that Monthly Drawing Period to award each Monthly Prize. The last Monthly Prize drawing will be conducted on the Monday after the last Sunday of the Sweepstakes Period.
Grand Prize: A random drawing will be conducted on Friday, February 16, 2001 from among all entries received during the Sweepstakes Period to award the Grand Prize.
The following applies to all Drawings: EACH ELIGIBLE ENTRY WILL ONLY BE INCLUDED IN ONE DAYęS SET OF DAILY DRAWINGS, ONE WEEKLY DRAWING, ONE MONTHLY DRAWING, AND THE GRAND PRIZE DRAWING. The Drawings will be conducted by an independent judging organization, whose decisions are final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning a prize in any Drawing depend on the number of eligible entries received for inclusion in that Drawing.
Potential winners will be notified by telephone, e-mail, U.S. mail, and/or overnight courier and must meet all eligibility requirements. The names and addresses (city and state only) of potential winners will be posted on the Sweepstakes site. In order to receive a prize, potential prize winners may be required to sign, notarize and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Liability/Publicity Release, and provide any additional information (such as social security number), waivers and releases that may be required by Sponsors and Administrators. All required documents must be completed and returned within seven (7) days from date of issuance. Failure to comply with the foregoing prize acceptance and response requirements may cause a winner to forfeit his or her prize. Return of a prize or prize notification as undeliverable, or inability of Sponsors and Administrators to contact a potential winner by telephone or e-mail within seventy-two (72) hours of selection, will result in disqualification of such potential winner, and an alternate winner may be selected by random drawing at Sponsoręs discretion. In the event a winner declines his or her prize or fails to return completed documents and releases as required, Sponsor may elect, at its discretion, to select an alternate winner by random drawing.
4. PRIZES:
Daily Prizes: The 1,960 Daily Drawing winners will each receive $100.
Weekly Prizes: The fourteen (14) Weekly Drawing winners will each receive $1,000.
Monthly Prizes: The three (3) Monthly Drawing winners will each receive $10,000.
Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive $30,000.
The Grand Prize will be delivered in the form of a check. All other prizes will be delivered in the form of a PayDirect transaction credited to the winneręs PayDirect account. If the winneręs PayDirect account is closed at the time of the prize award, or if the winner does not have a PayDirect account, the prize will be delivered in the form of a check.
The following applies to all prizes: Approximate aggregate value of all prizes: $270,000. REPORTING AND PAYMENT OF ALL APPLICABLE TAXES, IF ANY, ARISING OUT OF, OR RESULTING FROM, ACCEPTANCE OR USE OF A PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER THEREOF. Prizes may not be transferred or assigned. Prizes cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer. Only listed prizes will be awarded and no substitutions or redemptions will be made, except that Sponsor reserves the right to award a prize of equal or greater financial value if any advertised prize becomes unavailable. Sponsors and Administrators will not replace any lost or stolen prize items once in the winneręs possession. Any unclaimed prizes will not be awarded.
Winners should allow approximately 4 to 6 weeks after submitting Affidavit and Release to receive prizes.
5. CONDUCT: By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants agree to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. The Official Rules will be posted at the Sweepstakes site throughout the Sweepstakes. Yahoo! reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the game or website; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A PARTICIPANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAME IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, YAHOO! RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK CIVIL AND/OR CRIMINAL PROSECUTION AND/OR DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
6. GENERAL CONDITIONS: The Sweepstakes shall be governed and construed according to United States law. The Sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
By entering the Sweepstakes, you release and agree to hold harmless Sponsors and Administrators, and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, from any and all liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes (including, but not limited to, the receipt of or use or misuse of any prize or component thereof).
Except where prohibited by law or regulation, a winner's acceptance of a prize will constitute permission for Sponsors and Administrators to use such winner's name, address (city and state only), statements, photograph, voice and/or likeness, online, in print, or any other media, for all advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Sweepstakes, without additional compensation, additional consideration, review or consent.
7. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: Sponsors and Administrators are not responsible for any lost, misdirected, stolen, mutilated, garbled, illegible, undelivered or late entries. Sponsors and Administrators are not responsible for production or typographical errors in the Sweepstakes site or these Official Rules. Sponsors and Administrators are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate input, transfer or transcription of entry information, whether caused by website users or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Sweepstakes. Sponsors and Administrators assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries or entry information. Sponsors and Administrators are not responsible for mechanical, technical, electronic, communications, telephone, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or failures of any kind, including but not limited to: failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed transmission of online entries; traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit an online entrant's ability to participate in the Sweepstakes; and any injury or damage to entrant or any computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading any information necessary to participate in the Sweepstakes.
If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is compromised or otherwise not capable of running as planned, (including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsors and Administrators which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes), Yahoo! reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, modify, terminate or suspend the Sweepstakes and select winners from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation. If the Sweepstakes is cancelled, modified, terminated or suspended, notice will be posted on the Sweepstakes site.
8. PRIVACY: By entering the Sweepstakes, you agree to Yahoo!'s use of your personal information as described in Yahoo!'s Privacy Policy at http://docs.yahoo.com/info/privacy/index.html.
9. OFFICIAL RULES: For a copy of the Official Rules, print this web page or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Yahoo! PayDirect Sweepstakes Official Rules Request, P.O. Box 3903, Department T, St. Cloud, MN 56397. Requests received after February 11, 2001 will not be honored.
10. WINNERS LIST: Beginning on or about November 7, 2000 and continuing on through the final drawing for the Grand Prize winner on or about February 16, 2001, the names of prize winners will be posted at http://paydirect.yahoo.com/sweepstakes/winnerslist/. The names of all prize winners may be obtained after February 16, 2001 and before May 15, 2001 by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Yahoo! PayDirect Sweepstakes, Winners List Requests, P.O. Box 3895, Department I, St. Cloud, MN 56397.

Interesting - but frightening, I sure hope most of my customers will stay with PayPal, I am just having to many endless problems with PayDirect and their "shipping charges" problem.
I wouldn't mind winning, but I'd rather just have my people use PayPal.

This does not address any concerns about charge backs. All it says is that once payment is accepted, it can not be cancelled. However the sender can still do a charge back and the seller will have to pay it, even if they are holding proof of delivery. Yahoo should launch another contest:
Free merchandise.
Anything you want. Contest open to any crook with a paydirect account. Just purchase your item from a seller who accepts paydirect and then charge it back. You will get a full refund - no questions asked.
