Yes, I just got this email today. Well, GOTCHA!!! Their forcing non credit card payments on people parallels eBays forcing of BillPoint.
I haven't decided what to do yet since I am a credit card merchant and I can use that again as opposed to PayPal. However, I loved the convenience of PayPal and this hurts - it really does. Unlike, with my merchant account where I'm under contract for a set rate, PayPal is unfairly taking advantage of its newly founded (huge) customer base and putting the hot irons to them. Now I gotcha, you s-o-b (yes, sob!).
They're playing on the convenience that so many of us have grown to depend on for our online sales and buying. I wonder how long it will be before they impose fees on buyers?
I particularly like how they say they think this is "fair". I'm surprised they didn't finish with "this is what the American people want....."

The fact remains, your buyers want to use these services.
As long PP & PD don't mess up with buyers ,
you're stuck w/using them.
Sellers need to come up with a way to protect themselves, PP & PD sure will not.
I sure would like to hear some ideas.

chasd7-------PP is floundering- and it is only a matter of time til they totally bite the dust. The ONLY idea to bring these CC to our reality - is to Boycott them... if we all got together and said on our listings that CC fees are RAISING the price of our listed items - which they do - then perhaps a month or 2 of checks and money orders would bring these as you say sob's to their senses.
We created a multi-million dollar biz for them and they still aren't satisfied.
I'm contemplating offering my customers a discount for NOT using CC's
The flip side to this is -- Yahoo has me hostage, since I have now come to realize, the rotation views and sales of my items --- depends on the ratio of my AND my customers using THEIR services.
Some how, we have all forfeited our e-commerce Bill of Rights??
If it keeps this trend, they are definitely inviting the Government black suits to one day intervene..........

Government intervention - YES - no question.
Not for our protection but to levy taxes.
NO DOUBT - - When a gov type detects money flow, you can bet on taxes. They are better than bloodhounds.
Boycott: Only the buyers can xcreate an effective boycott. Thought that xcreate was a typo now I think was some kind of fruedian
thing.
