Hi
I finally got enough feedback that now I can use yahoo's online bulkloader.
So I read it ...got confused...and closed the windows and said enough.
Last night I went back into it, read it some more and gave it a try.
It worked but it didn't on my first try. Yahoo could not understand my saved file.
I had the spreadsheet open on my machine but thats where my hangup is. I need to properly set that up so after I save it and it goes to yahoo, that yahoo can *READ* it.
So do you use the bulkloader on yahoo and can you explain this to me ?
I also use auctionsubmit and have loaded auctions to yahoo with that program. But the pic is the problem there. It shows up as a box with a x in it and then my template comes up with the picture manually in it which would be fine except the first thing anyone sees is that stupid empty picture box from yahoo...*sigh*..
Suggestions ?

Hello,
You must save your spreadsheet file as "csv" or "comma & text" file with the name "yauctions_batch." or the bulk loader will not identify your file, thus your listings will not load either! Here recently I have problems with the bulk loader giving me a error message that my file dosen't have enough rows. I have to delete and reload usually after several attempts it eventually loads. I haven't a clue to what causes that error.

Hi
yes I saved the file correctly with that ending.
My problem is how to set up the spreadsheet ..the columns that are needed so yahoo can read the input. I must have left something out.

Have you verified that your column headings are exactly as listed in the Yahoo help guide? That hung me up a few times.

okay on my machine ,I have microsoft works.
Then I go into the task launcher to get to
the spreadsheet.
Now my first row across the top, I need
to list the info from yahoo..correct ?
Fill in the boxes.
Then I fill in the rows underneath it
as I go across. With each auction's info.
Then I save the file and upload to yahoo.
For your description, do you work on it somewhere else before you put it in the box ?
And do you put your pic separate from your auction description ?
Tomorrow I start a 8 week computer course
Bet I get the teacher to let me work on
spread sheets this week..*grin*...

Sounds like you have got it right. Make sure all the field titles are exactly like Yahoo's these are capital sensitive! You can create somewhere else and cut then paste. But why bother you can adjust the field to any size
If your looking for speed store your pictures elsewhere place a URL in auction description! In essence, you are capable of relisting hundred's of listing very quickly.
You are simply uploading a text file which can be done in a flash!

I write my description in "Word" and cut&paste into the spreadsheet. Make sure that you don't have any commas in your text, otherwise your text will be divided into the next cell after every comma. This was a big mystery to me until I figured that out. Also, no "Enter". It will put everything after the "Enter" into the next cell. Copy and paste for large text goes into the field on top of the spreadsheet, not directly into the cell. Or you get the "Text too long" message. These are the items in my first row of the spreadsheet. Category, Title, Description, Start Price, Duration, Credit Card, shiptime, Image1, Image2, AutoExtension, CloseEarly, numResubmit, Sale Price, intlOK. You can look up more in the yahoo-help for bulk loader. After you know what you are doing, the instructions are easy to understand. It took me weeks to figure it all out. But having the thumbnail image with yahoo is well worth the extra time and effort.

Hello
I had to let you folks know how I am doing with this problem ...NOT...
I need to know the name of the program you use on your machine to save a file in. I do not have excel on my machine. The spreadsheet program I do have, I am unable to save in the type of file that yahoo wants. I have read the yahoo pages on the bulkloader over and over. I really wanted to be able to do this. Until I can fiqure it out, I am going to have to put my auctions up single like I have been doing and then going back into unsold and resubmiting the ones that did not sell.
I use auctionsubmit bulkloader and have put up auctions to yahoo with it. The only part of that program that gives me grief is that when the auction does show up on yahoo that the first box is empty because my pics are not on yahoo saved. The pic url is in my auction description.
Well I shall try again this bulkloader. Just a bit frustrating right now. I think I put about 3 hours into this project today with no solution yet. Thanks.

I use the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet. It came with my Windows98. The excel spreadsheet from Office95 did not work for me, but somebody else had success with the excel97. Sometimes you just have to try different spreadsheets.
Good luck!

Me again
Well I made no progress with what I have on this machine. I do have microsoft works 4.5 but when I tell it to install, it will not finish the setup on my machine. It tells me a file is missing.
C\APPL\MSWORKS\setup.exc.
I am not sure how to find this missing file
to finish the installion process.
After having my own computer for almost 2 years, I have a little knowledge about them but still find many things I need to learn more about. This computer course is frustrating me to learn these courses for office work. Yesterday was total frustration for me but then the light bulb came on. I am sure if I can find the right program in this to use that I will eventually learn how to do this bulkloader. I know I can but for whatever reasons right now, I cannot put all the pieces together.
Now I have been trying to use microsoft works that came with this machine and the spreadsheet in there. I understand about the commas. Now are you putting the information for each section of information in different cells in a row across ? I did get it saved many a time as a csv. file. Maybe I am saving it as a wrong file. But I think its the way I am putting in my information in the spreadsheet. One must need to follow yahoo's auction setup exactly. I read where only 3 things had to be in there. I must be missing one very important step here ..*sigh*...
And I see yankeejoe has fiqured out more about me and now I am wondering if he would email me about this if he knows how to do it.

Those 3 things are manditory in EVERY category you want to list in. But there are MANDITORY fields in the category you want to list your auction in. So, depending in which category you want to list your auction, there are DIFFERENT MANDITORY FIELDS you have to include.
Some fields have PRE-SET information from Yahoo. Unless you create a columm in your spreadsheet to select your own information, yahoo creates the auction with the pre-set value. (Auction lenght is pre-set to 7 days I belive. I want my auctions to run for 5 days, so in my spread sheet I have a columm named "duration" where I can specify the lenght of my auctions.)
