I emailed yahoo regarding this but get nothing in response. I have been trying to get my auctions featured which they have been but for some reason the jpeg picture will not show up on top of the screen. I know you have to be in the top 20 but what's up. They sent me a letter saying I have to downsize my photo to 32 pixels high and 600 pixels wide. Also a highth to width ratio of 2.5 to 1. How do I do this??????????

You need a program to do this such as Adobe
Photodeluxe if you down loading to Yahoo,
If you are processing ur pics at all you
most likely have such a program.

I found the best pixel size for clarity of photo, and fast download viewing by buyers, is not to exceed 250 X 350 pixels. If possible, even smaller down to 200 X 300, is better yet. It's a good view of the item, and quicker download to keep buyers there. Viewers are not patient, pictures to big take to long to download, and they leave.

Yahoo is notorious for sending replies that have no relevance to the actual problem someone is experiencing! The problem isn't your picture size.
In order for the thumbnails to show up, the photo MUST be hosted directly on Yahoo. That is not only for featured auctions ... if you search by seller ID and click on the 'Show Only Photos' link, only images hosted on Yahoo will appear there too.
You also might want to check out the Auction Watch Community Guidelines and review type of content they are not willing to host.

Saffyland is right. I used Auction Watch's mananger to load my Ad to Yahoo. When I tried to "feature" my Ad, I also did not have the photo shown. I later learned to load the primary photo after the Ad is posted by "managing the auction" and editing it. I add the photo by letting Yahoo host it. It then showed up as Featured and also placed the Photo prior to the text of the Ad. I am sure AuctionWatch will edit the software to fix this but until then, I will continue to work around. It threw me for a loop too.

We normally process all of our photos through PaintShop Pro, BUT also use ULEAD, to optimize any picture, which GREATLY decreases download time on photographs, without decreasing size. Because we have multiple web sites and do endless picture work, we wouldn't be without PaintShop Pro for processing, and ULEAD - PhotoExplorer, which can do the optimization. We can quickly drop a picture download from 25 seconds to 5 seconds in a click - leaving the picture the same size as we started with.
Years ago when we first started working with digital cameras and scanners, we quickly found that the programs which came with these items was too basic, and couldn't produce the quality we needed for web work and such.
If you haven't tried Paintshop Pro and/or Ulead, you can get trial copies to test free at:
