Hello folks. I have recently changed some main categories in my ebay listings, but my vendio gallery does not seem to be updating the categories. It is still showing categories that I no longer use and most times not showing the new categories that I have changed to. I am registered on ebay UK.

Also, I uploaded 14 Auction listings around 8.30pm GMT but the vendio gallery did not appear in them. I added them later on manually. Should I have manually inserted the code in the template?

Have I caused the problem by chopping and changing between automatic and manual insertion? I have used the manual insertion on some of my custom pages on ebay and also on my website.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
Jack.

Hello Jack,

Unfortunately, the category changes would not apply to listings that are currently active, or to listings that were relisted from listings that already contained the Gallery (before the category changes were made). You would need to manually remove the html code, and allow it to be automatically reinserted. Also, please keep in mind that when you manually insert the html code the categories will not be specified in the Gallery.

About how long did you wait after the listings were active until you manually inserted the code? Please be aware that it can take up to four hours for the code to automatically be inserted into new listings. If you have a listing that has not automatically inserted the code after that time frame, please let us know the listing number so that we can take a look (note that we would need to see the listing before the Gallery has manually been inserted into the listing). That being said, it shouldn't cause any problems to manually insert the Gallery. When the system tries to automatically insert the Gallery code, it should recognize that the code already exists in the listing. If you do run into any problems with these listings, however, please let us know. If you would rather manually insert the Gallery into your template, I would recommend selecting this option in your Gallery preferences.

Regards,
Nathan

Hi Nathan. Thanks for your quick reply. I got called away there, hence the delay in replying to you. I understand all that you have explained to me ok, apart from:

(You would need to manually remove the html code, and allow it to be automatically reinserted.)

Do you mean manually remove the code from each individual listing or can I remove the code in my vendio account preferences?

I read somewhere on this site something about contacting the vendio team if you wanted to request having your listings re-imported. (or something like that - I was scanning through the help sections at the time) I did not fully understand it at the time, but have been thinking about it. Is it possible to import my listings again to overwrite the current settings/display?

I appreciate the help that you are giving me! I must say that your response took me by surprise and was not prepared to sit at the computer and get my head around this.

I've got another query you might be able to help me with. In my accountMy Account: Auction Site Account) page, when I click the 'edit' link I am being directed to ebay.com to sign in. Is this correct or should I be directed to ebay.co.uk to sign in? It is also showing ebaymotors.com and ebay.com/ Should this also be ebay.co.uk/?

Thanks again Nathan. First class service.

Regards
Jack

...Forgot to answer your question: (About how long did you wait after the listings were active until you manually inserted the code? Please be aware that it can take up to four hours for the code to automatically be inserted into new listings.) It was about 2 1/2 hrs or so before I manually inserted the code.

Hello Jack,

"(You would need to manually remove the html code, and allow it to be automatically reinserted.)

Do you mean manually remove the code from each individual listing or can I remove the code in my vendio account preferences?"

If you would like the gallery to automatically insert itself into your listings, so it can auto-detect the category of items to display - you would need to manually remove *all* of the gallery code prior to relisting the items. (each listing, not from your preferences in Vendio.)

If there is any part of the code still in the description field, the system will skip over it thinking its already there.

If your editing the description and know the category number that you want it to display instead, there are two references to the category in the HTML code for the gallery. (they read : cat=123456)

You can replace these numbers with the eBay category number that you prefer to have it display, rather than removing it completely during the relist process. (whichever is easier for you)

Christopher

Hello,

No worries, this is normal. When you are simply registering your eBay ID on file, it doesn't matter which eBay loing page you use as your username/password for eBay are valid on all eBay sites (international, motors specific/etc.)

Christopher
