As I understand it, when I sign up for Vendio Gallery it will be added to my active auctions. The initial default is the eBay Gallery image if one has been placed in the listing.
I make up a special pic for eBay Gallery and don't want that image in my Vendio Gallery on my current listings.
Will changing my settings after signup change the image from the eBay Gallery image to the image I select into my current listings?
Or will my preferences apply only to auctions created later? If it's the latter case I'll need to wait to sign up until I have NO active auctions...
Here's where I'm reading the info...
Once you confirm a plan selection, item data from all your eBay and eBay Store listings will begin to be imported into the gallery database, and your Vendio Gallery will be added to all your currently live listings by default. You can change these settings after signup by going to the Gallery Preferences page.
It takes a couple hours for the gallery to appear in your listings so when you sign up you will have the chance to specify how you want it to appear in your listings. You can specify the image you want to put in the Gallery so that it is not your eBay Gallery Image if it is all the same -- you can so something like, 1st image in your listing. If you signed up and didn't change anything then the default would end up being your eBay Gallery Image when it finally starts to appear in your listings.
Thanks for clearing this up with me. Active listings will not be affected. Only new listings after making the change will contain your new preferences.

Hi again Sonya,
I'm still trying to figure out the best time to sign up for the Gallery.
In the Gallery Preference page (which I found through the link at the bottom of the FAQ page, under How do I make sure Gallery uses my correct Item Images?) I read the following:
When will my Gallery changes take effect?
Changes to Item Display Order will be visible on currently active listings within 1 hour.
Does this mean I CAN change the image in ACTIVE listings from the eBay Gallery image to the one I want? There will no doubt be some actives no matter when I sign up for Gallery.

You can't change the Ebay Gallery images once it's listed. And the signup process will ask you for your preferences. So when you set them first time to something like Gallery or 1st picture or preview, then this setting should be the one that is enabled. If you go back and change it later, so say the last picture or the 3rd one, the change won't affect the gallery that's already in your auctions.

Yeah, I suppose it does help. I'm still not sure what will take place but I'll just have to try it and see what happens.
To be on the safe side, I'll make sure my eBay Gallery images on upcoming listings won't be unacceptable for my Vendio Gallery.

Okay, Sonya and Darin, I think I have figured out a reasonably decent work-around.
On my active listings which don't have bids and will therefore automatically relist, I changed the eBay Gallery images to show the first pic in the auction.
New auctions which haven't launched should be okay once I set the preferences.
Any comments from the experts?
I really do want the Vendio Gallery up and running but I don't want it looking all .

Sorry so long in reading your post.
I'm going to sign up for the Vendio Gallery this afternoon. There are only a handful of auctions in pending since I've been in Nevada doing you-know-what for the last three days. So even if it's all messed up it won't be critical.
What will be interesting is how the Gallery will show up in the currently active auctions, the ones closing tonight.
Hmmmm... guess I gotta take the plunge sometime, right?
Just reporting back. All went well with the image selection, in relists and in my new auctions.
Only thing... The Vendio Gallery didn't show up at all in the listings that were active before I started Gallery. So it appears my original concerns about currently active auctions were unfounded.
Sure wish I'd known Gallery apparently doesn't affect auctions started before sign-up.
