From time to time I get an inexperienced user who is afraid he or she is being 'phished' when asked to check out through Vendio. This seems to be happening more often lately. I do my best to reassure them and explain the process but am wondering how other sellers word their response when challenged this way about using checkout. I'm considering putting some kind of blurb in my listings as well. I would like any input from Vendio as to suggestions to increase trust among buyers. Thanks.

Hi Typingmonkey,
This is a pretty normal issue, especially seeing as how identity theft on the web is so prevalent. I would absolutely recommend putting a note in your listings for your buyers to let them know that Vendio handles your checkout.

There are three reasons for this problem. First is the need of a privacy policy for your business. Do you have one which can be easily accessed at your store? Unfortunately, Vendio does not allow us the space for a privacy policy on our web site.
The second would be the lack of prominent Vendio privacy policy. Can a buyer access the Vendio policy easily? Just who is Vendio? What do they do with the buyer info given?
The third reason would be the lack of definitive info at the checkout. I use the following: "In order to expedite your purchase we utilize a secure checkout system provided by Vendio. All your purchases are automatically stored in your shopping cart at the checkout. When you are ready to pay, click on the checkout and complete the required fields. The checkout system will automatically combine all your purchases into one invoice and will provide you the total amount due." However, back to square two - just who the heck is Vendio?
Now, I have a privacy policy, which is easily accessible at my ebay store. Of course, I have no policy posted at my Vendio store, because of space. Vendio has no privacy policy for transactions through its checkout. So, where would you pay for your purchases?
The problem is that we sellers and store owners have become insensitive to the concerns of our customers. We just do the descriptions and throw them out for sale. Privacy? Let ebay take care of that concern.
Well, guess what? Vendio is not doing its part for us. There is a Vendio policy which applies to us. There is no Vendio policy which applies to our customers. About five months ago I asked for such a policy, so that I could put a link to it from my privacy policy. I was told that Vendio would have to check and get back to me. I am still waiting.
Where would you check out? Vendio or ebay?

imho, Vendio needs to integrate with the ebay checkout, not redirect buyers away from it. Ebay is putting in more and more features like their email My Messages service which is explained as a protection against internet fraud and identity theft (If the email message you received at home is not also in your ebay inbox it is not really from ebay, etc.)
Customers are being deliberately given the impression that they are increasingly at risk of dire consequences if they deal through links and email other than directly with ebay. This spills over to Vendio sellers who are in direct competition with ebay sellers using ebay selling software and the ebay message system instead. I had to stop using the Vendio checkout because of these concerns, but would love to come back if there was ever true integration available. Thanks.
This first image shows the two links to the Vendio security notice, one of them at the bottom of the page and the other via a large graphic on the page.
When you click on either of these links, the following is what appears:
One way that users can post a larger amount of text than is currently offered is by using HTML that points to an image with all of the text you want to display in this field.
I made a quick sample of how this could work using your own privacy policy out of your eBay storefront. (obviously with a small amount of tweaking you could make it look/fit a bit better.)
I placed the following in the storefront wizard for the 'tagline.'

OK. Why is the policy hidden until checkout? Well, what do ya know?
I am going to put the link onto my privacy policy ebay page, and at the end of the blurb near the Vendio checkout button.
There should also be a link on the front page of every Vendio store.
Sure would have been nice if it was provided to me when I asked for it many months ago.
Boy, I am getting slow. I just realized that it is my Privacy Policy that is posted here. I'm just going to link from the Vendio Policy link to the Vendio Policy.
For those interested the URL is:

Thanks -

I do not want to use any ebay links or pages with the Vendio site. Bad enough that my entire ebay store is listed at the Vendio store - just so I can have ebay auctions noted.
Vendio, how about letting us rent a few pages on Vendio hosting. Maybe three pages without the hassle of buying domain names or switching our domain to the Vendio hosting. That would be a win for all parties. We get a few extra pages which we can access by links, and Vendio, as usual, gets the cash.
