I have to change my sales tax rate before April 1st. I have items at both ebay and at the Vendio store. At checkout, I use the redirect for ebay sales.

To fully modify the tax rate for all items, I must change the rate at My Account>Global Preferences>Tax Rate, for both unlisted ebay items and the Vendio Store items (all items in inventory). Is that correct?

Further, I must change the tax rate for items listed on ebay, either at ebay, or close them and change the tax rate, before relisting. Is that correct?

Do I have to change the tax rate anwhere else? Perhaps at PayPal?

Hello Bill,

In order to make this change for your existing inventory items, you will need to edit the inventory items to make the change (the setting in Global Preferences is a default for future new inventory items).

It is correct that you will need to either edit your active listings through eBay, or close them, change the tax rate and then relist.

You shouldn't need to change it anywhere else, but you might want to edit your tax table in your eBay account. While you are currently specifying the tax rate through Vendio, that way if you ever have to list an item directly through eBay for some reason the correct tax rate will be shown.

Nathan

Hello Nathan,

"In order to make this change for your existing inventory items, you will need to edit the inventory items to make the change ..."

Where would this edit be made? I've searched, and I am unable to locate.

Hello Bill,

It can be made from within the inventory item under the "Payment & Shipping" tab and the "Sales Tax" section.

Also, while you are making this change, you might want to consider switching to a tax profile (you may create one by clicking "manage tax profiles" in the "Sales Tax" section of the inventory item). The reason you will need to edit the inventory items this time is because you had set them up with a custom tax. When a tax profile is used, the profile can be edited (and any inventory with that profile will be updated).

Regards,
Nathan
