After we signed up with Vendio we were told by Vendio that Yahoo can not handle our domain registration. In order to make our Vendio site become live we have to allow Vendio to manage the web address. Is it truly impossible to modify the DNS settings with Yahoo to point to our Vendio site? Yahoo says they've never heard of this before. Vendio didn't tell us about this until we spent a few days trying to get the correct DNS settings. Some of our Vendio services are working but it's been a month and we still can't see our Vendio site. Does anyone in the community have any ideas on what to do?

Hello,

All registrar's are a little different in what they will allow you to do.

For the store pointing process we require users to be able to setup two CNAME records using the @ and WWW values.

GoDaddy, for example, doesn't allow anything other than a numerical IP address for the @ value so we have users create just the WWW value and then use the forwarding tools to send the non-www version of your address (the @ record mentioned above) to the one with the WWW.

While Yahoo has this same limitation that GoDaddy does where you cannot create the CNAME record needed to make it work for the @ value - Yahoo also doesn't allow you to create an auto-forward the way you would normally be able to so you'd be stuck with a website where it only works when you enter the WWW and not without it.

eNom and most all other registrar's will allow these simple changes to be made without any issues. Unfortunately with the Yahoo limitation the only available solutions are to either transfer the domain name to *any* other registrar so you can get your normal domain controls opened up or switch to a Yahoo hosting type account so your paying for webhosting space and can use the executable file to setup your hosted site this way instead (more expensive since you don't really need webhosting, but would should work.)

Tommy - note that your transfer request is currently at the same spot it was the last time we tried this with you:

"Transfer in Process - email verification sent, awaiting owner approval"

Be sure to check for any emails so you can confirm the transfer request before it resets again.

Regards,
Chris
