For some reason when I sell an item on eBay the inventory on my store isn't decreased by that sale. Is there something I'm missing? I don't seem to remember any of my store items changing if sold on eBay. I'm listing through Vendio, setting items to launch at 9pm PST. I'm not keeping track with separate lots either.

Hello,

The inventory quantity is actually not displayed on your Store items. If the item is set to be placed in your Store, and there is a quantity available of 1 or more, then the item will simply appear in your Store. However, the inventory quantity for the item should be decreased when an item sells. And then if the quantity available reaches 0 the item would no longer appear as available in your Store (assuming the item is set not to allow over selling).

Also note that when you launch an item to eBay, the quantity for that item moves from the Available Quantity total to the On Market Quantity total. If the item sells, the quantity moves off of the On Market Quantity total, but does not get added back to the Available Quantity total. (If the item closes without a sale, then the Available Quantity total is increased when the item closes.)

I hope this helps. But if you are still having trouble with this, please provide us with a specific example, so that we can take a closer look.

Regards,
Nathan

I think I see what's happening with the listing quantities - once something is listed in eBay, Vendio is essentially keeping track of two quantities - one for the Vendio store and one for the eBay listing. I guess I was trying to see if there was a way to tie the two together, so that if something is sold on eBay, the Vendio quantity would be reduced as well. I've run into issues where I'd sell everything on eBay and forget to update my quantities on Vendio, leaving me open to overselling.

I can see that this may be a problem, since if something is sold on Vendio, there's no way to reduce the quantity on eBay. I was looking for something to address the opposite, and I'm guessing that it'd be too complicated to have the quantities synchronize only one way, if synchronizing is even possible.

Hello,

Something that might help would be to change your items' settings to "Do not allow overselling unless it can't be avoided". To do this, first select the inventory item to edit. Then click the gear icon at the top right of the "Item Info" section and check the box for "Allow Overselling" (in order to turn that option on in the form). This option will then appear in the "Item Info" section, and you may select "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" from the drop-down box. Then be sure that you have your true quantities entered for the item (the quantity available plus the quantity on market would need to equal the true number of this item that you have available to sell).

The way this option works (I'll use an example where there is a quantity of 1 that can be sold) is that if you list the item to eBay, it can also show as available on your Vendio Store. If the item sells on eBay, then we will remove it automatically from your Vendio Store. However, if the item sells in your Vendio Store, please be aware that Vendio will not be able to remove it from eBay for you. You would need to cancel the eBay listing manually. Please be aware that there is the possibility of accidentally selling the item twice, in this situation.

I hope that makes sense. Please let us know should you need further assistance with this.

Regards,
Nathan

What you're suggesting makes perfect sense and sounds like what I'm looking for. I don't suppose there's a way you can just mass update everything in my store for me to the "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" option? Or is there something I can do other than manually changing everything one by one?

Hello,

Unfortunately, this change would need to be made manually to each item.

The solution presented here doesn't seem like it's working for me. Suppose I have 10 of an item and list all 10 to post to eBay. That leaves 0 under my Available Qty column in my item listings, and all 10 would be listed under On Market Qty. Even with Allow overselling if it can't be avoided turned on, the item shows on my Vendio store as Out of Stock.

If I intentionally double my Available Qty (for example, if I have 10 of an item I'll enter 20 on the item details so that eBay shows 10 and Available Qty shows 10), if an item is sold on eBay the Available Qty doesn't decrease, even though the On Market Qty will. But doing it this way is the only way the item shows up on the store.

Hello,

Could you please provide the name of one of your inventory items that has a quantity of 10, 10 items on eBay, "Do not allow overselling unless it can't be avoided" selected, the Store set to visible, and the items showing as out of stock in the Store, so that we can take a look?

Nathan

I recently listed Lumitec SeaBlaze 2 Underwater LED Light - Blue (101013) with 10 originally and when it posted to eBay, my Available Qty went to 0. I had to manually update that in the item description to 5 so that it would show up in the store.

I also sold a Garmin US Topo 100K - Upper Midwest - Micro SD recently. This was created with 10 Available Qty and 5 posting to eBay, leaving 5 under the Available Qty column and 5 going to eBay. After one sold on eBay, the On Market Qty dropped to 4, but the Available Qty remained at 5.

I actually do have something that's showing up as 1 On Market Qty and 0 Available Qty, even though I don't actually have that listed on eBay anymore. That's the Colorvision Spyder2express Monitor Calibration Kit. It's showing a To Ship Qty of 1, but the system isn't allowing me to mark this as Shipped (I wrote to you about 13 of my orders that weren't allowing me to mark them as Shipped, even though they already shipped long ago).

Other than that, I don't have anything right now that's 0 Available Qty and 10 On Market Qty - I've had to edit the numbers just to have them show up on the store. I can modify something if that would help you figure out what's going on with this. Let me know - thanks!

Hello,

That would be great if you could modify one of the items to a quantity of 10, 10 items on eBay, "Do not allow overselling unless it can't be avoided" selected, and the Store set to visible, so that we can take a look.

The available quantity is meant to show 0 if all quantities are currently on market. If you have a quantity on market of 5, an available quantity of 5, and an item on market sells, then the quantity on market would decrease and the available quantity would remain the same. If the item closes without a winner, then the quantity on market would decrease and the available quantity would increase.

Nathan

The option says "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" which is what you mentioned in a previous post. You're now mentioning "Do not allow overselling unless it can't be avoided" which isn't an option in my item details.

In any case, I've modified my SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker and Messenger (893049001059) to show 0 Quantity Available. This currently has 8 On Market Qty and 1 To Ship Qty.

I noticed another column that I didn't have shown before - the Qty On eBay column. I have it displayed now and the numbers are exactly the same as the numbers in the On Market Qty. Is that correct?

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. The exact wording on the website is "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" for that option.

Thank you for the additional information. I have asked our engineers to take a look, and we will let you know as soon as we hear back from them.

That is correct as far as the quantity columns go. The items that are in the Vendio Store will not appear in the quantity columns. So unless you have active Amazon items the quantity on eBay and on market quantities will be the same.

Nathan

Hello,

I am very sorry for the confusion with this. I have heard back from our engineers, and the "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" option will only make a difference if you are also using Vendio to list to Amazon. If you are only using Vendio to list to eBay and for your Vendio Store, then this option will work the same way as the "Don't allow overselling" option.

So you would need to either use inventory quantities (where if all quantities are on eBay, the item will not appear in the Vendio Store), or ignore them (so the item would appear on the Vendio Store regardless of any inventory quantities).

I have put in a request with our engineers to remove the "Allow overselling if it can't be avoided" option for users that do not have Amazon account information stored in their account (in order to avoid confusion). I am really sorry about the confusion/problems that this has caused for you.

Regards,
Nathan
