Pinch-pot by Harvest McCampbell
Price: $30.00
|
Harvest often explores themes of the feminine and the earthly in her
work with clay. This piece draws on the roundness of the planet and of
motherly icons, the passage of lava and rivers from mysterious realms,
and the life giving moisture that comes from human (and other mammalian)
mothers. This hand built vessel is made of hand mottled porcelain and
stoneware, giving the clay body a unique look. A simple white glaze
spills metaphorically from the interior. This signed piece is dated
1990, and it has a heavier feel to it than many of Harvest’s pieces of a
similar size from that time period. The finger impressions on the clay
(which are often subdued in many of Harvest’s pieces) are here
exaggerated--to further express the feminine and earthly metaphor.
Measures roughly 3" across and 2" tall.
