These finely woven and detailed pieces are Harvest’s own unique design, and generally take from 15 to 20 hours to complete.  The turtle is held in esteem by many tribal people, and often figures in traditional creation stories.  North America is called Turtle Island by many indigenous people, so we again see the metaphor for our human connection to the earth in Harvest’s work.  This piece, and all its details, is woven from Raffia palm fiber.  The working locket can be stocked with a few pinches of potpourri for use as a pomander, or with sage and sweet grass for a more traditional scent.   This piece was completed on 2.16.10  Measures roughly 3" across.
