about usABOUT THE ARTISTS[Hans Ongelungel] Contemporary oil/acrylic paintings, typically depicting Palauan scenery and ancient life in his native Palau. His work has been displayed in galleries internationally, especially throughout western Europe and the Pacific Rim. One of his paintings was presented as a gift to the United States from the Republic of Palau, and is on permanent display at the Department of the Interior in Washington D.C. "My artwork depicts the traditional Palauan lifestyle and heritage of island people." [Hannah Ongelungel] Also born & raised in the Republic of Palau, Hannah uses her sewing and tactile skills to create a number of useful and gorgeous items, like denim and canvas purses and handmade flowers. [Sha Ongelungel] I'll attempt damn-near any form of art, for my own amusement. If something nifty comes of it, all the better! "Some people are filled with pent-up rage... I seem to be filled with pent-up creativity. I think it has something to do with being a proven anomaly within each culture and subculture I represent. Many have viewed my unique qualities as faults-- but they seem to translate quite nicely into art." [Yan Ongelungel] Illustration, mixed media, digital photography-- a little bit of everything, really. "I'm a Pacific Islander by birth, a Palauan by blood, and a Portlander by spirit. This quirky cocktail mix gives way to a variety of unique perspectives and pieces of artwork, as evidenced by the melting pot of creations and ideas I've had over the years. The diversity that other cultures and viewpoints have to offer will never cease to amaze me, and will therefore always serve as a source of inspiration. I'm skeptical to the belief in limitations of artwork, but like anyone else, I reserve the right to say what pieces of artwork I prefer." |
