I'm a lttle confused. I thought that the printed forms that go in the clear envelope would suffice as an address label. I got that impression from the USPS Click n Ship site. A postal clerk said that I needed a separate address label. The package was the same size as the customs form and there didn't seem to be any room left for a separate label.

Thanks in advance

The last form has to be signed by the addressee and that is the shipping label. It is signed when the addressee is delivered or picks up the package. No other label is needed.

Many counter people at the post office are confused about the new forms. I even had one of mine question it and then I showed her where the addressee has to sign when the pick up the package to show receipt of the package. Typical confusion for the post office but the packages do get through without the additional label with no problems. As an example I mailed a package to the UK on 3-01. It arrived and was signed by my buyer on 3-11. No problems.

anothertreasure,

I concur with BillsHobbyEmporium's account above. It prints out 4-5 copies -- just cut them all to the same size and sign all of them where indicated...

I know it was always required to have a regular address label on the parcel. They may have changed, but I cannot find where it did.

The bigger point though, whether it is required or not, is to put on a label anyway. Customs forms are just for that, customs and often get lost. The label will insure the parcel will make it to it's destination.

put the label on the box and then paste the forms,so if the form is gone, you still have the address label.

stone - It is hard to find the answer but there has been a update to the IMM manual. You DO NOT need to put a address on the package itself. Dont forget, these are not just a customs form, the name of them is "Shipping Label with Customs Form". It's the same as if you print a shipping label with Paypal, Endicia etc.., it's the shipping label and postage combined. Just in the case of international ones it's the postage, shipping label and the customs form all combined. The number 1 copy should never leave the package as it's the one the postage is actually displayed on and "should" be with it when it is delivered. But, to be on the safe side what I have been doing just incase all the forms would mysteriously dissapear is put a address label on the packages first and then just pasting the customs envelope on top of it. That way if all the forms were to get lost the address would still be visable through the clear shipping envelope pouch. It's alway's better to be safe than sorry is the way I look at it.

Thank you all, label under the forms sounds like a good idea, but I'm too lazy.

BillsHobbyEmporium - Your not kidding about the size of the IMM manual. What makes it even worse is since the new regulations went into effect in January they have not actually released the new printed manual yet with these updates. I have had to print all the damn updates out off of their website as they are released and stick them in the manual. What a PITA and my manual has grown over 2 inchs more with all these pages stuck in it. I can't wait until the new updated manual actually get's released.

Mike,

Yes I know that they have not released the new manual. Fortunately my postmaster keeps up with the regs on the web site and when one of the clerks do not know something I tell them and then they check with him and they come back and say I was right. It is a PITA to deal with all of the changes but that is what makes life interesting.

I have on many occasions put separate label for address and 99% of time the postal worker puts the large White customs label over the address one so does not show, even when I have put it over to one side they will cover it up.. If you use the small green one then you need separate address label.
