A co-worker ordered one of the CD's from John Scherer that teaches you "everything you need to know about buying and selling on ebay." She asked me to take a look and see if it would really assist her in creating her own ebay business. Basic info was there in an easy to understand format however I do think ebay had a hand in this as it's pretty clear that any site other than ebay for hosting or listing is not only not detailed it's discouraged.
Now let's get to the meat of the matter:
Nowhere is it mentioned that after the initial honeymoon period of being excited to sell that your hair will fall out - your eyes will permanently cross - your hands will develop into claws - your blood pressure will go through the roof and certain phrases will send you wandering from room to room babbling to yourself.
Phrases such as:
Why do I have to pay before the item is shipped?
I want to examine the item prior to paying for it!!
You said the item was teal but it's blue and green!!!
Why is your shipping so high? It shouldn't take $3.00 to ship a padded envelope with extra padding and peanuts and a delivery confirmation across country!!
Your shipping charges are not clear - I only found the charges in 3 places on the auction.
And my favorite: "I don't agree with your terms of service - could you please change them so I can bid on your item?"
Mr. Scherer got the basics but left out all the important info about selling on ebay.
