I am having one returned. It had the hang tag and the inside tag, stating made in USA, the only thing I did not notice was irregular, incised on the inside. I am returning her money and never touching a Coach purse unless I am sure. I thought I was.. There were 6 bidders, no one questioned me. Thanks. comebuy616

Hi comebuy616 , Heres the link to the purse community board at eBay . They can tell you if it is real . I know the glass board was real helpful to me.

Comebuy, to avoid these "problems" just never STATE that it's a Coach or a Dooney or a Liz...just say
""it has a label saying Coach, it's stamped Coach, but I did not video tape it being made in the Coach factory by a legal registerd Coach employee nor follow it through shipping where inspectors watch as "real" Coaches are put into boxes , nor did I video tape the truck, which only allegedly had the purse in it, leave the Coach building, nor did I follow it to it's alleged destination. I did NOT have DNA testing done nor was it finderprinted to see if an actual licensed Coach employee had touched it. I claim it only APPEARS to be a Coach purse so buyer beware....if you want a piece of leather grossly overpriced because of a name ....shop elsewhere or risk a broken heart, unbearable depression, and financial ruin !"""
That should help

comebuy616,
According to a recent survey most of the Coach brand items sold on eBay are fakes and in recent anti-counterfeiting surveys of eBay listings - 9 out of 10 designer bags purchased by investigators were fake. Major brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Celine, etc. do not sell "seconds" or "irregulars" - they destroy or recycle the salvageable components. Likewise major brands are not available wholesale or at discount as their artificial scarcity (as with De Beers diamonds) and snob appeal keeps prices high.
If you want to sell a Coach item (that may or may not be genuine) then don't accept credit cards or PayPal as you can be subject to a chargeback many months later. If you can verify that your item is genuine through authenication then you may be able to sell it.
The sale of counterfeit designer bag is more profitable than the sale of illegal drugs. There is even a thriving market in counterfeit sales receipts to go with the fake designer bags...

If you didn't notice it, maybe it wasn't there and maybe she's sending back a different bag?

I sure don't have a crook's mentality! I would never have thought to produce a counterfeit sales receipt. Amazing.

If you call COACH to order a replacement hangtag, they will ask you for the serial number and tell you immediately if it's one of their numbers. (Not to say that a counterfeiter couldn't stamp the same number from an authentic bag on hundreds of others...), but COACH will also ask you the model of the purse as each model has it's own type of number.

If Coach was really worried about knock-offs....it could lower those assinine prices....just a thought...

I have an authentic Fendi bag. I know it's authentic but I'm afraid to sell it on Ebay. I know it's authentic because my sister's boss bought it while he was in Italy at a Fendi store. He brought back bags for all of the office girls. I don't have the sales receipt as it was a gift and this was bought many years ago. It is mint condition. I think I even have the matching wallet. Any thoughts?

Does the Fendi have any sort of number? If so, you could call to verify and tell the winner of the auction they can do the same.
That said, why would anyone want an authentic bag if the knockoffs are so good people can't tell whether or not it's authentic without an indepth analysis?

You're forgetting one major thing.
We're talking about sales on eBay, where the buyer has no chance to examine the goods first. Most knockoffs can be detected by the knowledgeable shopper once she has a chance to eyeball, sniff, and feel the bag. She doesn't have the opportunity to do any of those things before buying on eBay.
I'll be selling some of my Coach bags (genuine, thank you, and gently used) at an upcoming garage sale. We will keep the Coach tags locked away separately. I have heard of people stealing just the tags.

I don't think they're good enough for eBay. I took about a dozen pictures of each, and they didn't look that great, even though I didn't use them much. I have a reputation for selling quality goods and I don't want to jeopardize that.
Yes, Stop, they are genuine...purchased back in the days when Coach leather goods were made in the U.S.

Did you know that you can send a Coach bag back to Coach & they wil repair or refurbish it for $20? At least that is the dollar figure I was told.

Ok fluffy ... I see what you mean. Thanks for clarifying. I think my Fendi hasn't ever been used. It doesn't look like it has, but I'm concerned over the same thing that you are. Plus, I'm worried that someone might try to say it's not authentic.

chathamsue: I think those days might be long gone. The purple bag in the pictures above I received as a result of sending in another Coach bag for refurbishment. Coach advised me they couldn't fix the other bag and offered me the purple one...at half of retail.
That's one way I know that bag is genuine: It came directly from Coach.

Interesting - is there a site that gives information on all knockoffs? I've been finding a lot of St John dresses, Kenneth Cole & Kate Spade bags lately and I was wondering if I was just lucky or are they knockoffs.
That's why I like to stick with Vintage - less likely that they are fake.

So Fluffy dear, how much are you going to ask for this particular one at your yard sale? And would you consider a yard sale sale over the net?

B: Not sure how it'll be priced. I'm hiring someone to run the sale for me (thank you, craigslist) and I'm going to leave pricing on most things up to her, but with an eye towards "make sure it's gone by day's end." There'll be a couple more Coach bags, some Dooney and Bourke, a Ferragamo and if we get a real handbag addict, a wonderful Bally bag that doesn't go with anything I've ever owned.
I love going to garage sales. Hate having one of my own.

ladyjewels; Speaking of vintage, I found a fantastic Diane Freis beaded silk chiffon dress Saturday at a garage sale. It looks new/never worn. Am I correct in thinking this is from the Eighties or could it be newer?
Thanks,

Fluffy - lucky you!! Beaded silk chiffon sounds like 70's but could be later - I don't think she started designing until the mid to late 70's. Post a photo and we will give you our best guess???

Hopefully this link works. It is the link to info on returning a bag for repair from the Coach website. Service still available. For the price of their bags they should offer this.

I don't think it's $20 for repair, though. It seems to be $20 for shipping/handling to return it to you once repaired...and it doesn't say repairs are free.
