I was told yesterday that you can ship anywhere in the Regional Rate C Box for $16.

This came from a postal clerk at the small post office in the small town I'm in at this time. I don't think she knows what she is talking about.

Has anyone else heard this?

It would be nice as it's a very large box.

I used one one time and it was $46.00 to ship from CA to GA.
I checked on my stamps.com program, I use all the time to do my shipping and it quotes $15.95 to 47.43 depending on where it goes
Hope this helps

She was saying it was a flat rate so she was wrong.
I am surprised that they can be shipped any where.
I used them all the time to ship things to my employee who lived 40 miles away and it was always $16.

Are we talking large flat rate boxes here? They can go anywhere & weigh anything for the same price.

The C box is about twice the size of a #7 box.

Regional Rate boxes are based on weight and zone. For Example:

* Add 75 cents for Retail Counter processing

Regional Rate A box (can be packed up to 15 pounds)

Z1&2: $5.32
Z3: $5.44
Z4: $7.55
up to $11.96 for Zone 9

Regional Rate B box (up to 20 pounds)
Z1&2: $6.16
Z3: $7.25
Z4: $8.10
up to $19.53 to Zone 9

Regional Rate C box (up to 25 pounds)
Z1&2: $15.25
Z3: $19.89
Z4: $23.62
up to $57.39 for Zone 9

RR Box A is based on 2 pound weight
RR Box B is based on 4 pound weight
RR Box C is based on 10 pound weight

Basically, if your item weighs less than the rated weight, use a different box. I use RR A for anything that fits and weighs over 2 pounds, but would not exceed the cost of Flat Rate.

I have an item that weighs about 6 pounds and someone ordered 2, for a total of 12 pounds. It cost me $7.25 to California using the RR A box instead of $11.30 for Flat Rate or $14.89 for regular Priority.

I find these very confusing, but I looked it up on USPS web site. It says you cannot use it at retail counter.

"This offering is not available for mailers using BRM, Parcel Return Service (PRS), or for customers who pay postage at retail Post Office locations."

It would make sense that they do process at the counter if ebabestreasures was quoted $16. This would be $15.25 plus 75 cents.

Boxes are not available in the post office and do have to be ordered.

No this little PO had the RR C on display.

I've gotten them in Jacksonville as well but they were not out in the open like here.

Leave it to the post office for mixed messaging. I was told at our PO that they don't carry those boxes and they had to be ordered.

It could be that someone gave them back at the local PO and they are using them there. Don't know.
