"... but that perception is less likely in one who is below the mean. From that viewpoint if extreme bush could seem bright and Gore strange while Clinton is only unfathomable."
Don't think I can can agree. I've usually found Bush to be unfathomable, Clinton bright, and Gore strange, and many people have noted that I'm right around the mean, sometimes even bordering on the downright mean.
As vice-presidents go, I think Quayle was much more intelligent than the public perceived him to be, probably more intelligent than Gore, but, image is all.

But you have agreed, Donny. I'm not trying to be mean, but that you find Bush unfathomable and Clinton bright places you at that side of the spectrum which is opposite the hee haw fans, even though your friends place you at or around the mean. Do you see what I mean?
Oh, Dan Quayle is one of my all time favorites and his bumbling was an act.

LoL, Remembering Dan Quale...
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."
-Former U.S. Vice-President Dan Quayle at a fundraising event for the United Negro College Fund. He was attempting to quote the line "a mind is a terrible thing to waste"

Now imagine George W as president and Quayle as vice president. Boy could we have fun with that, huh?
Quayle did get a bad rap for that potato thing though. There used to be an "e" at the end of the word. I have an old crate label with the old spelling. Does anyone know why and when the e was dropped?

Chum, interesting article!
See Bush Run LoL
"What about seeing the president? Was he really in the helicopter, with a stunt double sitting on the passenger side in one of the white SUVs? Or was the presidential profile silhouetted for an instant in one of the dark vehicles?"
"I think I saw him," said David Hildebrand"
As usual he sped through the political heat so fast that he was invisible !!! Making himself available to people with questions should be part of his job.

Too bad the article didn't also interview the Bush supporters who were there. I wonder just how many of them believe that he's doing a swell job for Americans and what facts are that they base that on. Now we'll never know.
The reason I ask is because since the GOP is so fond of hiring actors and lobbists to pose as working-class people who support Bush for the media, I'm trying to discover a 'litmus test' to discern which are real Bush supporters and which ones are the hired ones.
Worse, is if ALL the political parties start commiting this type of hoax (fraud?). How then would we believe ANYTHING that we see in the media (wag the dog?) Any suggestions?

Since I just filed my final tax return for 2000, I think I shall vote for the Republican candidate. I know this will upset all of the " Gimme something for nothing democrats", but your time has come and gone.

Verbatim reports to gallup explaining why voters like Bush...
Getting a tax refund was one.

Thanks for the link, Helen. After going through the list, I am not sure that it'll make things any clearer for us to spot hired suppoters of political candidates -- but it was very amusing. I think the number one reason mentioned was that he replaced Clinton.

Zivy, can you please restate that using Standard English grammar? The sentence structure is confusing, and I am not sure what you are saying (asking?)

"The next President of the United States of America: JESSIE "THE PRESIDENT" VENTURA!!!"
I like Jesse much more than many a politican coming up on the campaign horizon. I may not agree with all of his views, but I have very high respect for his saying it how he feels it. I feel that if he did make a run for the Presidency, I feel I could trust him.
LOL! I like where he took that announcer job and the state legislature admonished him for it and people poo-poo'd the idea of a Govenor simulataneously taking on a radio announcer job. Jesse retorted along the line like, "If voters want me to act like the other politicans and make my future campaign money by taking bribes instead of this job, that's what I'll do!" Gotta luv him for that!

Jessie Ventura being elected Gov of Minn was a breath of fresh air, but I don't know about having him as President. Not that he isn't honest enough, but what does he really know about doing the job?
Of course, the same can be said about our present President

Precisely!
If the GOP had picked Jesse Ventura (if they could have) and matched him with a vice-president with foreign diplomacy skills like Henery Kissenger, I might have voted Republican!
