The outgoing board, just before they accepted their own resignations. I'm pretty sure the first any of us heard about it was when it was posted to a board there.

Nice of someone to ask . The previous board certainly didn't.
I think we're each aware that if we don't, the organization is screwed because there would be no directors and no way to appoint any under the bylaws. (It is difficult, btw, to think of a single situation that the existing bylaws actually handle, clearly and unambiguously.) There are also open questions about the sequence of events, the determination of the validity of the election, etc. which still require input from some legal types. Things are still in a state of flux, and anybody who expects the sun to break from behind the clouds in the next twenty minutes is going to be disappointed.

Am I to take it by your rather nebulous answer, that you, Ross and Leon haven't all decided to serve, as of yet?
I certainly hate to see the OAUA go under, so I hope you all find the strength not to rend one another to tiny bits, if you do accept.
A new election would be great.

Toke, maybe it would fit better if you said "lowly", seeing as how all the members are being talked DOWN to, that is, when they are spoken to at all. Perhaps not enough people started off with "Massa, may I speak?" in their posts, and that is why the ex BOD's wanted the last laugh? Now they get Lord Shiva and a Parrot.

gaffan,
Maybe the talking down was before the BOD manifesto?
I know I was talked down to, prior to the resignation. That is why I am no longer contributing.
Good Luck to the three of you. You have a long road ahead of you.

Gaffan, now that youre big man on campus, dont you have other worries to worry about rather than being here and playing with me?
Or should I call you Gaff? Everytime you open your mouth you prove my point again. So why should I have to dig for back up? Saves me time and effort.
Your turn, Gaff (since you arent needed elsewhere, it seems).

it's even worse then Nixonian.
its like the the OAUA is the engine of a plane that has stalled out and the person in the hot seat dont know how or what it takes to start it or get it running again.
Above everything else the OAUA is a business with things that need to be done daily for its good and survival and it hasn't done anything in over two days and its not looking good that they will get done anytime soon.
it like a union shop where both labor and management are all on strike at the same time and they left the cleaning people to fill orders and run the machines.

Gaffer, Ross isn't the prez, but he was named First Director. I don't know what was in the heart of the previous BODs, but I do suspect pyth00n has it right. The old BODs picked the very worst candidates they could think of to run the show, out of spite.
I know you said you would not run for election and I don't have any reason to disbelieve that. OTOH, at least one other director is warming up to his new role, taking an iron fist approach by locking up message threads critical of the new leadership. OAUA is supposed to be an organization that represents auction users. Already we're seeing an adversarial stance from the new BOD, even more so than the last bunch.
Since Ross isn't allowed to post here I won't discuss him personally. For the good of OAUA I hope he remembers he is only a placeholder, nothing more.

Twinsoft I disagree I don't think they choose
or picked the worst candidates, What they have done is pick just a few of the least likely for the time.
If these guys can get a group togeather and hold a new election really quickly so business can move forword I think things will in the end work out fine but they will have to be quick and take some of the advice many are trying to offer...

The thread is about the OAUA---Online Auction Users Assoc.
They are having problems with elected officers resigning, leaving the organization in the lurch, and the future of the organization looks bleak right now.
Does that help?
I was a member a long time ago. Don't even know if I still am. Come to think of it I haven't got a newsletter in a while.

Loosecannon,
So all of these posts are about the same thing? And all of it is about some group of auction users?
Sounds like a messed up group of people from what I have read here. So why the interest in these people here in the Round Table? Are they all posters here?
Never mind, I don't think I really want answers. Just talking out loud. I was curious, but now I think it best not to know anything.
Thank you for taking time to acknowledge me, I do appreciate that.
