These dances remind me of John Waters's "Hairspray". Did you ever see it?

"Hairspray" was an interesting movie. I saw it...but of course I was still in utero at the time.
This place needs a good controversial thread. There aren't many of us here so we'd each have to take more than one stance on any topic just to keep it going. I don't know if I'm up to it. You ?

Boy, I'm sure glad I don't have any idea what you're talking about with all these old dances. Sounds like stuff my great, great, great grandmother might have done.

Who is telling you to shut up ,Helen?
Krafty, I think you just might be telling a very small white lie there.
Why do they call lies "white" anyway?

There you go again...your great grandmother?
I don't think so. LOL! I learned how to bop when I was 12 years old.

Wow, I just read your post enchanted. So you own the title of shortest manifesto on record now.....Congratulations!! You've beat out rawbunzel by about 15 seconds....Bravo enchanted!
OK, now give enchanted the crown rawbunzel. (And try to be diplomatic about the whole thing, OK?)

No, it was my great, great, great grandmother Helen.
Actually, I've tried moisturizers, make-up with optical diffusers (???) and even poor lighting at home. Nothing works, so I just lie now.

I never heard of either of those dances, dirty bop and dirty dog??
The first dance I remember learning was the Peppermint Twist when I was maybe 6 years old, can't remember exactly. Pretty small. I had six older brothers and sisters who played the radio constantly and I learned all the songs very young. They taught me to twist the night away with Chubby Checkers.
I was fascinated by the song One-Eyed Two Horned Purple People Eater (I think it was an inkling of things to come with my later fascination with trolls on chatboards). Another song I loved as a little kid was Who Left the Chewing Gum on the Bedpost Overnight. Ah, those were the days.

Well, I'm going to manifesto for the night. I won't be back for at least eight hours so I probably won't set any record. Good bye, young ladies and twinsoft.

You would be good in the whiney-butt territory. Why don't you try it out? Or are you already there?

Night, saabsister It's good to know my record will be safe for now.
Rawbunz, I'm truly distressed at your implication that we are not really very good trolls. If you must make such an accusation, please back it up with evidence, and links to threads. Your unsubstantiated critique is causing me heartbreak and gastric distress.
In fact, I beg to differ. I am a very good troll. I like myself the way I am, I have good troll self-esteem.

Oh Enchanted, you completly misunderstand. We are all too good to be bad trolls. It's a conundrum. You must be good to be bad and vice versa. Terribly complicated. Even a bad troll with good self esteem would have trouble with the entire concept.
Here, have some nice Pepto. That'll fix you right up.
Saabsister, Good night. Don't let Enchanted scare you with her "One eyed, one horned flying purple people eater" song. A song I have never heard of by the way.
HJW, I had no idea that THAT was the whiney place you meant.

Helen, Kraftdinner really didn't say anything negative to you in this thread that I can see. She has a quirky sense of humor, as do most of us left here. Perhaps sometimes you just take it wrong? I do wish you two could come to some kind of an understanding. I see no evidence of a need to bicker. Really. I would say so if I had.
Of course, as always , this is JMHO and only worth the screen it's printed on.

What's the deal tonite Helen? I started this thread to try and have some fun. In case you haven't noticed, there aren't many posters here lately, so I thought we needed a diversion. When someone starts a thread and you're allowed to be silly, it can be fun - up to the point where someone gets mad and takes things out of context. You've done that tonite and you did it before when we were all pretending to be moderators, etc.
Also, I don't know what your fixation is with AuctionCrotch, but you have mentioned that place more times than I wish to count. Why do you advertise that site so much? Why do you always suggest that I go there?
I'm not sure where you're heading with your constant jabs at me, but go ahead if it makes you feel better Helen.

I don't. The "jabs" are from you. Not from me. But as I told you the other day, I will not ignore them.

That's funny Helen. I'd like to see where I said that.
These "jabs" you talk about are fictitious Helen. I don't take jabs at anyone unless it's a humourous situation, or I'm just acting silly. If you can't see that by now, then at least be agreeable in your disagreement.

Now I might have been offended if she had said her grandmother, but with that many greats in front of it I took it as a joke!

FWIW I passed right by that comment as part of Kraftdinner's role playing along with Rawbunzel of being too young to have grown up with those dances... so I read it as talking about herself not about anyone else. Now I see what you're saying Helen but my impression is she didn't mean it like that.
We were all being a little silly but I don't think anyone intended any hurt to anyone else.
IMHO I see you all as young vibrant women. Certainly I think y'all have more energy than I do.
I like you both KD and Helen. Hope it will all work out...

You're ahead of me here.
OK, I've thought about it. You AND saabsister were talking about dances. Rawbunzel claimed to be an embryo when these dances were popular. I wanted to upstage her by saying my great, great, great grandmother probably knew the dances you AND saabsister were talking about....and hardyharhar. It had nothing to do with you or saabsister. The line was meant more to make me look self-centered (in a joking way).
If you don't get my sense of humour Helen, that's OK. But I don't think you have to be mean with your blurbs about AuctionCrotch and all that junk.
