royrogers - I DO Yahoo! My Yahoo sales have tripled in the past 2 weeks. As a matter of fact, they have even doubled what my sales were on eBay. I have NOT needed to lower my prices. As a matter of fact, I raised some of them a bit. And - I haven't had a single deadbeat. For the time being, I'm VERY HAPPY!

Thanks roy,
Your positive attitude is what we all need.
IF these other sites are so great, why is so much of this negative energy still being put in yahoo. You would think they would be too busy establishing themselves elsewhere.
To pray and revell in anothers misfortunes is wrong, these people want us to fail because they themselves are failures.

HEY, ME TOO! My Yahoo sales have quadrupled in the past 2 days. As a matter of fact they are 10 times what my sales were on Ebay. I have not needed to lower prices. As a matter of fact, I doubled them across the board! And I haven't had a single deadbeat either. Instead I have had the current bidders flooding the site offer to pay up for all past deadbeats, even though they weren't responsible for the bids. For now I am EXTREMELY HAPPY! But, I have to run now...I am late for my job at Yahoo.
Thanks for the positive thread - it was a great idea to post it here since there is no science fiction category on AW.

I believe this just like I believe in the Easter Bunny. My sales dropped like a rock that is why I am pulling out. I believe the only way someones sales in Yahoo could have tripled in the last 3 weeks is if they got luckey and instead of selling one item in 3 months they got 3 sales if that is so they are lossing money. If you list alot after a month or two of yahoo payments you will have to pull out. Like the rest, we have seen the writing on the wall and it said (Stay and go broke.) Not me I list to make money. Good Luck Yahoo and Yahooers.

I will be leaving Yahoo also, I feel sad for the smaller sellers, my twin sister sells buttons. Some people sell small things because this is all they can handle. I feel sad when I hear all the talk about the small stuff, yes buttons are cheap. She is leaving Yahoo too, it hurt her the same as others. So we are all in the same BOAT. I feel in a month we will all have our attention on the new places who are doing a GREAT job, and picking up a lot of business. Yahoo is now YOO HOO! **** LAST ONE OUT * TURN OUT THE LIGHT!

My sales dollar wise have been better in the past 5 weeks than they have ever been. I did lower my prices 20% on the 10th which I'm sure has a lot to do with the past 2 1/2 weeks. Christmas rush and new bidders were responsible for the rest. I have been Yahooing almost 2 years. I sell in the Precious Moments category which is down over 60% at the moment. I totally expected sales to be zero or almost zero, but that hasn't happened yet. I am in the process of leaving yahoo and am listing at Bidville. I'm sure my sales have been just a fluke, and it's just a matter of time till it's dead for me too.

I took a look at one catagory way back on the 10th, I found 7781 items listed there, 219 with bids. This represents a "listing to bid" ratio of 35 to 1.
Took a quick look at the same catagory this AM, I found 2676 items listed and 55 with bids. This represents a "listing to bid" ratio of 48 to 1.
With bidding rates like this I predict Yahoo will soon do away with the ability to "search by bid."

I must say ever auction that I've had to pay fees for have sold. But I was running 250 auctions, And now I only run 1-3 Auctions. Do you think yahoo's stock will reach new high this way? For myself I'm going to short it. "I Love Yahoo" now drop sucker and make papa some money.

I have not listed anything new for the simple fact I dont like being watched by morons, nor do I like the shilling going on, in March when the air clears you can start your calculations, until then I am not going to list anything worth your time to monitor.

My sales doubled on Yahoo too. No it's true! It from 5% successful closing to 10%. This is not a joke, I repeat this is not a joke. This takes into account my monthly average sales since August.
rollanotherone, obviously we are reluctantly leaving because Yahoo was #2 and possibly our best alternative to ebay. So yes we are still upset, still uneasy whether these other free sites will grow substantially, and meanwhile this anger has to be vented because we put lot's of energy building up our feedbacks on Yahoo and a clientel. Should we be busy establishing ourselves elewhere? Maybe some people are, and if you bother to check, you will see that these other sites are growing.
I'm strictly an ebay seller at this time of year where most of my money is made. I've got three sites that will get lots of attention come spring. I think we're still watching Yahoo fall to its knees so we haven't totally directed our attention elsewhere because quite frankly, this is also entertaining in some regards.

I still Yahoo becuase of the Monopoly money I still have to play with and thanks to the repeat business of previous bidders I still have 80% sell through.
Don't believe me? That's your problem, me and my bidders happen to know it's true.

if you are directing it to me and you think I overlooked a new item, you are wrong, everything that appears new is an item that has been sitting for months in the relist cycle, if it didn't sell last year what makes you think it's going to sell today.
I refuse to waste my time creating new listings while we are goint the the "trimming the fat" process in Yahoo. I am sure most of the sellers who plan on staying are doing much the same, you are monitoring dead weight, not new listings, they only appear new to you. the only ones selling are the ones with new offerings, not last years no sale items like I am doing.
The only people using the watch list that know this are the real buyers, they know when an Item in new or not. The only ones that really matter.

I think YaWho should find themselves a good media company and merge. Advertising is down, the auctions are headed that way as well. Consumers have demonstrated they aren't going to pay for already free services by simply moving somewhere else. Face it YaWho, you're no AOL.

Hey Roy,
Been on Yahoo for a couple of years, It was a good site until the pay if you want to play game. I have tried listing on a couple of other sites, and have settled on BidVille, I am getting better results there than I was on Yahoo! Have sold more in last two weeks on BidVille than the last 4 months on Yahoo! If Yahoo dropped there fee today I would not go back. In my humble opinion YAHOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo! is history. Hope you find someone who will likes Yahoo but so far it just seems there just ain't NOBODY.

We agree on another one!
If Yahoo had weeded out all the auto resubmit freebies when they started up the problems these other folks are crying about would not be here now! If they had just instituted a relist fee of say ten cents (starts getting pricy when you list over a 1000 auctions or have multiple ID's and a low sell through rate)they probablly would have eliminated a lot of the spam with time!
I used to have to browse forty plus pages of the same stuff being relisted every two days at or above Book or Retail prices! This does not bring many collectors or buyers to a site where you have to list above the Book, retail or Show prices to compete with the spammers as Yahoo started calling them!
Since there are maany categories
For the ARDENT Search engine fans, some of us like to BROWSE just to find the good deals that can still be found!
therpowen
I agree with you also! Many good points!
Roy
Thanks for the positive post!
Have not listed much, but I will continue as long as stuff keeps selling!
Out of the last couple weeks I have had nine bidders with less then a 10 feedback and no deadbeats! I do not believe I had 20 running and right now I have 2 with bids and close tomorrow!
Even had actual bids and instant purchase instead of closing and sold which had become the norm for YAHOO Auctions/Classifieds!

Hello Troy
Most seller have stopped selling, moved to Bidville, or some other site.
Yahoo has nothing to offer (No Bidders) but space and with 80-90% gone a lot of it. LOL
I sold items on yahoo for 2 1/2 years (It was fun) But I'm not going to loss money. They just don't have the bidders to pay to list. My Categories was Coins, Paper Money, & Stamps > Coins > United States - Jan 10th there were 50,602 listings now 7,653.
Coins shops get $50.00 for a 1/10oz Am. Gold Eagles. You could fine them at auction around 30-35 bucks. today Gold is at $260.00 an oz. And that very low the melt on these coins would be $26.00 If I pay $30.00 for them sell at $32.50 and have to pay fees on all the one that don't sell. I Loss
I made 1-3 dollars per item. Not a lot of profit for the time I put in listing, e-mails, packing, shipping, Bad checks, paypal fees for credit cards. And lord if an item gets loss in the mail, file a claim if the buyer was smart and paid for insurance. if the buyer paid with credit card here comes a charge backs. **It's just not fun any more**

rrentman-
I dont know where you are buying your coins but we started out buying in auctions only to find coin shops are much cheaper and more fun, many offer deals because I sell online.
It could be of the area I live in, they try to give me a fair auction price since my gain is their gain, if I sell something I bought from a particular shop, they know i will be back for more and give me better deals because they watch and enjoy my successful sales.
I have found it is better to show less knowledge of what you are buying when entering a coin shop, the minute you know something the dealer is more apt to double check to make sure you pay for what you know.
I usually hit the buckets of foreign coins first 4/$1 or 10/$1, most shops have these, have found many silver foreign coins in these buckets, even found a gold soveriegn that was overlooked becasue the seller was too busy with other things so he threw it in the bucket!! It pays to play dumb.
And to the rest here is a good suggestion????
Since Yahoo is now charging fee's and many of us still have to feature items, wouldn't it be nice if when your item sells the 50%refund on featuring an item could have the option of having that money spent towards Yahoo stocks? We do this with a utility company, we can send an extra amount on our bill to go towards stocks in the company when we pay, since we moved from that area I also have the option of recycling the interest back for more stock and still sending token amounts that dont hurt, a common thing of course. Every penny counts and multiplies faster then many of us realize. I am not a big spender, I maybe add $2 to my bill maybe more as If had the extra and the going price of stocks, it is a hit and miss situation, to me Yahoo would be as profitable as Utilities, face it, I dont care who you sell to, Yahoo brought them to you because everyone loves Yahoo far and wide!
Since I already paid to feature I consider it a very good investment when it sells, the 50% refund to me would be more valuable if it would be automatically re-invested in YAHOO! stock. This could also be offered to buyers at an additional fee for instance at 2% of final value, I know I would bid and not wink at such a deal!! I would be happy, buyers would be happy and maybe Yahoo would be happy enough to give more payment options for sincere sellers. This would also help insure the deadbeats stay away if they have to prove payment before they get a stock credit.
Complicated and explained by someone who has dyslexia and used to having a secretary, sorry. Hopefully Yahoo picks up on this idea first.

I'm not out to rip anyone off, and if that's what it takes count me out. I like to sleep at night.

If your coin dealer is selling US 1/10oz Am. Gold Eagles for less than $30.00 each he is losing money.
As far as your stock for your listing refund. Any time you can dollar cost. You should come out over time.
