I've noticed that Featured auctions with low start bids for some low demand items have been getting some nice bidding driving the prices higher than you'd get elsewhere.

None of my items sold or even got many looks, so I assume my inventory is among those that won't sell. Funny how they sell fine on ebay though.

keziak- IMHO books were a tough sale on yahoo even before the fees. I tried very hard to make Yahoo the place for my books because I was really peeved about the half.com banner ads on Ebay, but selling books on Yahoo is a lot like running uphill- not the easiest thing to do. Now that there are fees- well, it seems like Amazon.com is the place to go. That's how I feel about it.
Having said that, one of my 2 sales was actually a lot of books (kiddie books) in case anyone was wondering.
edited to add- Irene, do you remember the saga of mommybird? you were probably wise to edit, but I HATE missing out on ANYTHING- you know how I am! hee hee!

My sales on Yahoo have tripled in the last few weeks. I think one of the reasons is that I mostly sell craft items, and Yahoo has a very mixed up category for those items, lumping them all together, so there used to be 35 pages of everything, now it is down to 15 pages, people can see things more easily. My 4 messages to Yahoo over the last 18 months trying to get them to itemize the category have availed nothing. Even Bidville has separate categories for different crafts, although my sales are nil on there, but I will keep hoping!

Using credits to pay for listings.
Listing duplicate items for the most part.
Everything is 1st Bid Wins.
Some sales and considering the reduction in total number of listings, the percentage of items selling is good.
Going to continue to use credits, which will take about three months at my present rate to exhaust, and see what developes.
Bidville transfered all my closed YAHOO auctions to their site so I'm running duplicate items and a bunch of LP's and books there. Using Take It Pricing. No sales after about 10 days on about 75 listings.
The duplicate items are selling on Y & e at the same or higher 1st Bid prices. I'm attempting to list 1st Bid items at slightly lower prices off eBay to reward buyers who explore VOTES (venues other than eBay).
I'm very interested in additional sites beyond eBay, will continue to explore the options and will give them time.
My book sales on Half and the A/Marketplace have slowed as more listings are added and people seems to list at consistently lower prices. I occasionaly lower prices but I refuse to get into the pricing wars. Selling a HC for a dollar or two just isn't worth the effort for me.

In the past 3 weeks- 20 items listed (6 currently, all but 2 have bids) 10% sell through on the other 14 (mostly to repeat bidders but a sales a sale.)

well, at least one of the books that didn't go on Yahoo sold with a BIN price that was the same as my Yahoo BIN price, within 2 days.

Listed 30 plus items last night on "Y"! Four sold with Instant purchase and for more have bids and will be sold, since I do not use a reserve!
My IP on "Y" as well as BIN on "E" is always higher then I would expect to receive in competitive bidding!
I had 2 BIN's on E-Bay and no bids so far! I posted 50 their last night!

I ended up with 8 BID sales on yahoo this weekend. BUT, with the negotiations with one bidder, I ended up with a total of 20 actual sales. Turns out, he wanted a few items that I didn't have listed, but went with what I was selling. I ended up shipping a box of 15 items to Japan, paid with Bidpay, express shipping. Add to the fact, I saved writing up those other items, I was VERY happy with my sales. So was the Post office *L*

I am still listing on Yahoo! UK & Ireland, which is still free to list. However since listing charges began in the US they have not been cross posting to the US auctions so I get virtually nil customers in the US (which used to be about half).
However the number of people listing on the UK site is growing and so are the buyers.
I have noticed now that for many categories - the number of items for sale on the UK site alone now exceeds the current US site. http://uk.auctions.yahoo.com/uk/
Isn't this a message that Yahoo! should scrap the listing charge idea everywhere. Although I am glad not be paying listing fees, my market has been curtailed and it is good for trade if there are more people listing. If it came over here I would stop using Yahoo. At the moment in the UK - unlike the US - most people pay by the minute to connect to the internet, so we are paying through our phone bills as it is without extra charges. The Telecoms companies & ISPs can't get reliable unmetered access sorted out.

listed another 2 "first bid wins" items yesterday. One of them closed today with a winner.
I also have already been paid for the other 2 items I previously posted about, so the winners weren't deadbeats.
Nothing to brag about yet of course, but I'm going to gradually be adding some more listings to bulk up my Y inventory a bit. I can't see any reason not to, especially since the prices I got for the closed auctions are comparable to or perhaps a bit better than the prices I would have had on ebay.

Well, my sales on Yahoo have almost tripled. I think that the main reason is that I sell craft and craft supplies, and on Yahoo, they are all lumped under one category, Needlecraft-supplies, so when there were 35 pages of them people just didn't spend the time going though them all, now we are down to 15 pages, still everthing lumped together, but at least there is not so much for buyers to wade through. I have asked Yahoo about 6 times to sub-categorize, but no response. I guess it depends on what you sell, any china I have listed is very slow, but again, it is all lumped together in one category.

Got another Instant Purchase via Yahoo - that makes 2 sales via bids and 2 sales via instant purchase since I started listing there again...
I, like many, fled in January when the fees hit. But with eBay having intermittent problems while trying to submit and BidVille becoming DeadVille for me...I said, OK, it's only 20 cents a pop...

My Yahoo sales are gowing up like crazy since they started charging fees. At least in the Sports Memorobilia section the fees eliminated all the junk people were listing. Now buyer's can find items they would like and not get frustrated wading through 3 cent cards. Things are so much better there I virtually stopped listing trading cards on Ebay where may sales had been going down. However I still use ebay for publications because they never sold well on Yahoo, but do on Ebay.
One suggestion, list directly when using Yahoo. Do not use services like Auction Watch or Andale etc. When people go to your booth or run a search they will not get a thumbnail of your item if you use a listing service.

vriedy,
Enjoy it while it lasts, with under 250,000 auctions, Yahoo cannot sustain life long. I have several items listed there, with funny money and NONE have bids, so I doubt all catagories are doing well.

Hi all,
I had sabout 40 running this weekend and 23 sold! Several with Instant purchase!
I have listed a few times since listing fees with funny money! Have been selling over 50% of the few I have been listng and Instan Purchase has been great as the BIN on "E" has been doing also!
Listing in matchbox cars is down to around 700+ listings since FEES! It previously had over 4000! Only problem with the 4000 is that most of those were relists every two days by a few Sellers!
Same problem has already evolved on some of the other free sites!
Like 74,000 books in one category by what appears to be one seller!
