Had a couple of sales, but still needs more buyers and sellers.

Thanks for letting us know about your sales, Opals. And you are right about needing more buyers and sellers. Once Carnaby starts to advertise I am sure they will come.

I presume that Carnaby will start to advertise after October 31st when the Max Loader Beta Testing is over. I see the storefronts are up and running and they have just introduced a new program that they are testing for importing auctions from other sites.

I hope they start to do some advertising soon so that they don't lose the momentum that the beta testers and new sellers have created.

Carnaby has stated in the past that advertising will not begin till a large number of items are on their site.

Has anyone else noticed that they have stopped drawing winners for the weekly Cash Cow prizes? I checked the winners' page, and the last drawing was September 23. Did I miss an announcement? What happened?

Maybe they ran out of money? Something else that might be scarce until the listings reach that elusive and so far, phantom number

Is carnaby running out of steam(cash) already?

Edited to add: No September 1st or October 1st monthly winner either.

And this is the site with millions in reserve waiting to advertise with? The whole thing must have been a pipedream.

I get the feeling that the Carnabites are getting restless. It's one thing to talk about how great they are to respond, but when the responses are loaded with phrases like "coming soon" or "when the number of listings warrant it" (in other words, meaningless rhetoric), I think the natives will become impatient and start looking elsewhere.

It would be nice if Carnaby could provide a little more concrete info on their plans. I know of several people who are waiting in the wings with lots of things to list, but they don't want to experience another "Gold's Syndrome".

I just had to open my BIG mouth, didn't I!

Since the 2 auction sales, I listed 113 items and have only had 2 views over the past several days!

Sometimes I have to laugh at MYSELF!!! Not really funny, BUT!!!

I was wondering how come noone is putting up this sites numbers?

The resident CPA is going to be absent for a few weeks and no one finds the Carnaby numbers very exciting ( hovering around 3,500 mark for a couple of months ).

Especially when the 3,500 items are mostly junk and are listed by 4 or 5 huge volume sellers.
I just can't find anything interesting to bid on at Carnaby. And lord knows everything I have listed has barely received any bids, forget about actually being sold!

I'm afraid it's time to move on...

Carnaby's actual auction count is somewhere near 2000, not 3500. They allow listing in of auctions two categories (free). Most of the items are double listed and the auction count in each category reflects it.

Ah, That's a shame that sites double dip on the numbers.

Let me see if there is anyway to get the actual listings some other way.

I am not sure what all the fuss is about, I have 200+ item that I just listed in the last 3 days with Carnaby. As of this morning I had 592 Hits on all the auctions combined. I have 1 current bid on a Duth Auction and that was off an item I just listed. But the bidders are looking !!!

They also will be releasing Maxime to the public on Monday. I have used this program and is great. I does take alittle getting use to but it pulls you listing straight off eBay, Yahoo, BV, and ePier. I used the program on ebay and Yahoo listings and I have to say it likes ebay alot better.

Hang in there guys and gals, it will get better !!!

trsres4u,

That's an awful lot of hits. Could it be because everyone is looking to fill their Cash Cow?

Ms Tool,

That may as well be true for the reason increased hits, however I don't have Cash Cow on 85% of my auctions. I do see a pattern on all the auctions with 1 hit, "The Cash Cow" Master. The other auctions with the hit rates of 3+, I do believe they are actual bidders.

LOL

My DH is a CPA and believe me, CPA's would not have time to mess with silly auction statistics and posts every couple of minutes, through out the day. Still LOL

The DVD player weekly winner list is up to date (10-14) and so is the monthly big screen tv winner list (9-30). The only prize program that was ended was refer a friend and they did post an explanation as to when and why:

"Refer-A-Friend Donation
In light of the tragedies that have greatly affected many lives in this nation, Carnaby has decided to discontinue the Refer-A-Friend program and donate the entire $5,000 prize to help support ongoing relief efforts in NY, DC and PA. We hope that our members will join us in assisting those who need our help and support during this difficult time."

Thanks for posting the donation notice uptoolate. I had read it and was going to go try to find it in order to try to conteract some of the inaccurate specualtion that is going on in this thread.

I've posted about 40 more auctions today, absolutely loaded with junk! Do come over and waste some time.

Although I haven't gone through each auction individually to see if they are ALL listed in two categories or not, none of mine are and I believe most are not.

There was a temporary glitch which double-posted a few seller's auctions a few weeks back, but that has now been corrected.

Oh well, gossip is fun....I guess.

I don't think carnaby has "junk" at all. Junk is where you fill your site with nothing but cheap items that nobody wants. Carnaby may not have a huge number of items for sale, but this site is still growing. I have looked around, and there are alot of brand new items up for sale as well as many other quality items. This is my opinion, you don't have to agree.

The site does have quality items and is a class act in every aspect. One of the few problems with the site is a stagnate growth due to lack of traffic which is due to a lack of advertising exposure which is caused by a lack of an adaquate number of items listed to merit an ad campaign ( according to Carnaby management ).
This is a sad Catch 22 Situation or a dog chasing his own tail.

bidsbids,

What is this? An "almost accurate" response!

With all your experience in the area of on-line auctions, it should be apparent to you and everyone else that a new site is definitely in a catch 22 situation.

Was not the great "Bay" when they arrived? I remember all too well!

What site IS IT that meets with your approval or is there one? Your qualifications for your expertise is?

I listed 17 items on Carnaby. All started at $1. All had reserves at 20% of what they were worth.

I had three hits total and a $1 bid on an item I just sold elsewhere for $174.75.

The auctions on Carnaby ended and I relisted them elsewhere. I have respectable bids on all but one auction.

Would I waste my time again on Carnaby?

No!

I'll stick to Bidville, Epier, Yahoo and eBait.

Thats to bad about your no sales on carnaby. I know carnaby doesnt have the buyers that other sites do, but it will some day soon. I actualy agree with the whole catch 22 thing though.
