Words to live by, laugh by, or just stop and think about. Your favorites. Here's one for AW's old timers, to start things off...

Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. --Dale Carnegie

Hi pareau - my favorite words to live by:

Do not negate another in order to affirm yourself. Affirmation comes from within, not at the expense of another.

Easy to believe, but harder to practice!

By the way, I don't know who said it. Got to find that out!

Maui: you listened in on my Mom, didn't you...she said all of that. To which she also added:

"If XXX jumped off a cliff, would you do it, too?"

Edited to add the immortal: "Of course I trust *you*--it's the others I'm worried about!"

Ok, on a more serious note, I'm not sure who I'm quoting here, but it's one of my favs:

"100 years from now,
It will not matter
What kind of house I lived in,
What kind of car I drove,
Or how much I had in my bank account...
What will matter
Is that I was important
In the life of a child."

Three of my favorite quotes:

"We are all pencils in the hand of God."
Mother Theresa

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do.
Sail away from the safe harbour.
catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain

"If stupidity got us into this mess why can't it get us out?"
Will Rogers

I for one can sit and read a book of quotes like it was a novel.
