Ahem.

Descriptive words are good, but chose them wisely

I CAN'T use a phone. That's why I am selling online. All the clueless people in the world have this new way of doing things and want to revert to the old every chance they get.

What exactly is the point of giving this information if the auction has already ended?

The seller is going to send that info anyway if they want to get paid (unless the buyer uses an online payment service).

This is the most retarded, moronic, assinine thing I've ever heard.

Not Kerryann on eBay

Jake wrote,"Well it's kind of pointless for ebay to do this if they aren't going to include a person's full mailing address. What good is the name, city and state?"

Well, it depends. Yeah, if you live in NYC or L.A. and your name is Smith, it is of no value to get the city and name. But if you live in a small town and your name is unusual, it's a whole different story.

When eBay gives out my phone number or address, they will have seen the last of me. I am not in the phone book for a reason and eBay has a hell of a nerve thinking they should give my number out on their worthless EOA's that don't show up for 3+ days.

There must be something funny in the drinking water at eBay. Present them with a relatively minor problem and they manage to find the most boneheaded solution possible.

Argh

I really don't see the point of including a phone number. Any self-respecting netizen should have multiple email accounts if there are problems (they are usually free) and hopefully access to another computer if they run a business on the web. They should check their email daily if they are doing business. I have two machines at home and have internet access at work and the local library.

I don't ever want to get into calling a bidder or seller. I can count the times on one hand for approximately 900 auctions. Unresponsive = an almost guaranteed negative feedback.

Well i don't know if you all realise it but not only is PHONE under consideration but full name and STREET address. for those ebayers that have been harassed or stalked before my sympathies..

Lunancy is ebay on the announcment page announcing that bidders SHOULD CALL BEFORE BIDDING with no mention of using email.

Luncancy is ebay tellling BIDDERS to use IESCrow AFTER auction end with no mention of EMAILING to make sure seller will use IESCROW prior to bidding.

Check out the announcemnt board and the posts on townsquare... the first post and post 235.

ALRADY THEN???

alrad...This is working FOR the bidders...Why should THEY mind? They are given Carte Blanche to harrass the SELLERS, day and night...while the SELLERS get the short end of the stick...again...

Just as Sellers get short-changed when trying to settle with a non-paying-bidder: New terms: Seller can go and PAY 15.00 to have dispute resolved....Again..All in Buyer's favor...

in anticipation of eBay implementing, this or not, I just changed phone # in my user profile to my pager # instead. while it's true, this info has always been available to a potential bidder, the thought of eBay actualy encouraging phone contact makes me shudder!

uaru,

thx for info re: my question on posting length. definetly gives me points to ponder.

with reference to the wife....I concur!
